What we’ve seen this last week, ITT with trolls like the odious lawbro (above), and even over in the Moderation thread, is simply put… a reaction to blasphemy. Civil Blasphemy…
What’s also funny is I pretty much dedicated my 2+2 tenure to LOL-ing @ Wendy. No way our resident trolling lawbro knew any of this, he’s way to lazy for that… but he did luckbox Wendy actually being a libertarian.
This is the whole thing, isn’t it?
You believe that Trump and Biden are the same. I strongly reject that thesis, so I’m never going to agree with what follows.
Fuck off the four 2+2 Deans of ACism too: Borodog, Nielsio, zan nen, and proph*. Fuck all the ACers.
‘*’: Livra recanted and renounced her deanship.
LMFAO while I my ass falls off laughing.
I believe nothing of the sort. Like… have you ever read a single one of my posts before. I’ll make it simple like you are a 5yo: a evil toxic waste container != a stupid potato.
These are toxic waste containers.
These are potatoes.
They have nothing in common. But I’m still going to decline having either one shoved up my ass. That’s on advice of my odious trolling lawbro-er,
Dude, just stop responding to me or I’ll put you on ignore. I’m sure you’re a good person, but you’re not good at posting about politics.
Okay, so you’re not following your own guidelines about no trolling.
I guess there’s no point in engaging.
I’ll make a deal with you…
You delete your trolling posts ITT. I’ll stop quoting them.
Hey Sabs, a lot of us are not doing well emotionally right now, can you lay off for just one day?
No. I’m trying to make a point using humor.
I’m not in favor of ACism because I posted a meme from an ACer. I’m not in favor of Sinn Fein because I posted a meme from them… in fact I’m not really sure what they do. I’m don’t think the evil toxic waste container is indistinguishable from the stupid potato because I posted that meme either. As an aside: neither do whoever created that meme.
I’m trying to facilitate a chat here. I’m posting memes that are relevant to that chat. That is all. That’s the joke.
if you didn’t want a response from him in his own thread maybe make your dumbass troll comment somewhere else
we have this cool feature where not only can you ignore a user but you can also mute entire threads, pretty nifty if the thread bothers you that much
We also have a cool feature where users can decide to just stop for one day.
well sorry you can’t force your will on anyone here but you do have control over yourself so might just be easier for you to put him and the thread on ignore if it stirs up negative emotions (still don’t understand this in the slightest)
You understand I’m not the only one here who finds this annoying? idk, you’re probably right, but it just seems like a nice gesture if he could pause for a bit before posting the same meme 509 times.
I get that but I don’t understand what’s annoying (besides the fact that people don’t like Sabo). Are people still on the “this thread is campaigning for trump/hurting biden” train? If a few people find the gameday thread annoying should we ask everyone to stop posting in it?
Some of you guys seem to really dislike Sabo because of threads he posts that don’t fit into the current system we have and somehow feel attacked by them but everytime I go into one of his threads it’s always the same people making a big deal out of it who can’t control not being bothered by him that they have to post and call him an idiot or make some dumb comment on how stupid his thread is and try and censor what he can and can’t post.
Also even if he stops for a day I’m guessing any future threads or posts of his will be met with the same dissent from the exact same people. Seems like we are only allowed to post mainstream ideas on here and that is pretty lame.
I find it interesting that US senators used voting abstention or boycott(whichever term someone wants to use to describe what they did), in an attempt to cast the process as illegitimate.
Why is it that these powerful people not only had this tool in their toolbelt, so to speak, but they also used the tool?
I’m assuming that they discussed with each other the tactical and strategic reasons for doing so.
I suppose there’s a chance that Chuck Shumer read my post on UP from a few months ago about vote withholding, and that inspired him to take the line that they did. If there’s a way to check his browser history, we could verify if this was a case of the quantum butterfly effect.
I think it’s a fractional % of a vote to the point of being theoretical. But I can say from my own experience that this election marked a couple of firsts for me being active. This forum had a role. Maybe for someone else a first is voting. Have to manage the cognitive dissonance somehow.
Abstention news. I am in no way well informed about this, but Ivory Coast had an election this weekend. It was won by the incumbent after a classic piece of stand-for-the-third-time-when-theres-a-two-term-limit action. Not his fault on that, though, his hand picked successor only went and died this summer.
I don’t think it was uniform but some opponents refused to take part in the election. The official results are a handy victory on 50-something% turnout, but I’ve read some people claiming the real turnout was as low as 10% with allegations of intimidation, and actual intimidation and violence.
It also seems one opposition leader is taking the abstention further and is now attempting to set up a parallel administration, a traditionally named Transitional Council.
Anyway, I shouldn’t really post as I know next to nothing. My immediate hot take is that it seems like a spat among the IC political class rather than a ground up movement. I would guess that most international bodies that take an interest will call for the ‘results’ to be made clear and violence to be reduced, making sure to use the passive voice and mostly hoping Ouattara can ride it out without having to say so too directly. We saw recently in Mali that that doesn’t always cut it. No doubt the normal people will be the ones doing any suffering / dying that needs doing.
