Winter 2021 LC Thread—I Want Sous Vide

Is that photo from now or 2008?

Also I did agree that manhands are unlikely to change over time. I probably didn’t state it as clearly as possible, but that’s what I was trying to convey with this:

I had forgot about her. How do you not disappear forever when you publish a book where the entire premise is incorrect and pointed out within seconds of being published?

Cliffs, please?

I had forgotten she learned about her being a moron when she was called out during a live interview. The audio is incredible if you can find it.

Well at least we are sticking to the long held tradition that if a woman is being discussed, her looks and fuckability must become the main focus of the discussion within a couple posts!

that drools

She keeps it real at least with the “my politics are literally insane” so respect.

In that vid she’s trying to touch on the notion of a post-scarcity economy and there’s nothing weird or controversial about what she’s saying (in fact I if I was more conspiratorially minded I’d say this is an op to make post-scarcity look stupid; I might become “guy who thinks everything is an op” for a little while) but here’s the one super big problem with specifically her saying anything related to this: When contemplating post-scarcity or really any quasi-post-scarcity and the path from now to it, like, “there’s many a slip betwixt the cup and the lip,” and how to navigate said slips, the big problem that always comes up is, “Ok this sounds great but what if one dude owns all the robot butlers.”

Yeah, no shit Claire, of course we’re fucked, the father of your child wants to give the robot butlers machine guns and flame throwers for teh lulz.

Yes, the most common example I know of is “I never gave him money”.

Which can be read as

I never gave him money

somebody else did

I never gave him money

I’ve never given money to that person

I never gave him money

He took it from me

I never gave him money

That money was supposed to go to other people

I never gave him money

I paid for things but never gave them cash directly

Can I do the ‘your sister’s pretty hairy!’ gag without being too insulting?

Oh ya they are so much bigger and scarier. Don’t think you see them as much where you are as well so here.

Fatties rejoice. New medication approved for weight loss. Gold standard study showed people lost 15% of body weight (was 34%) in a once monthly injection I believe.

Costs about 800/wk without insurance near me at least (maybe)

Semaglutide is the drug, originally developed for diabetes

edit: updated cost

Does the drug cause you to eat less or just not make use of the calories?

Lowers appetite by regulating a hormone called GLP-1

Meh, I think I’ll stick to throwing up after meals tyvm.

It’s a GLP-1R agonist (i.e. mimics GLP-1 rather than regulating it). As GLP-1 is involved in the body’s regulation of appetite and metabolism and so on, it exerts its action via multiple pathways. It promotes insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon, so those are metabolic actions, but also directly influences appetite via delayed gastric emptying, for example.

not sure tbh, this isn’t my medicine at all obviously. Would assume it’s more chronic though and you’d gain weight back if you stopped taking it.
