Who will run in 2020?

Remember last week when you were like “of course I don’t think Yang can win”?

Donald Trump was a celebrity before the election and had enormous, yuge, name recognition. I STILL have no idea who Andrew Yang is other than he’s a dude who wants to give me a thousand dollars a month.

I said I didn’t think it was likely. I still don’t. At the same time he’s the only candidate who I generally find myself liking more instead of less as time passes.

Maybe actually do some looking then. Enough people do that and maybe he could win. It would be a good thing for the country.

Ugh. I hope whoever comes out of the primary is good.

None of the good people can win ldo.

That’s true but if you had told any of us in 2014 that Donald Trump was going to be president what would we have said exactly?

No. I’ve watched him in every debate and I’m not gonna do what you’re requesting.

I won’t argue that the establishment is favoring establishment candidates–that’s clearly the case. But painting Yang as a victim of this is just far-fetched, man–he isn’t getting covered because no one is voting for him and he has no chance. Hell, he’s already made it onto three debate stages which is probably more than someone polling at his level deserves.

The level of fuckery aimed at Bernie is several orders of magnitude above what’s aimed at Yang, and the probability that Bernie wins the nomination is actually non-zero. If you want a posterboy for establishment bias, it’s Bernie, not Yang.

Not actually disagreeing with this. Plenty of room in the ‘getting fucked by the establishment’ boat. And I think Bernie wins the whole thing if he wins the primary, which I think absolutely terrifies the people who actually run the country. I think they’re screwing Bernie the ways that they can, and I also think they are screwing Yang, mostly by not covering him at all.

The scary thing is that many of you are still falling for it when the candidates name isn’t Bernie. I’ve deeply researched Yang, am a fairly knowledgeable sane person, and am extremely impressed. I’m not asking you to just take my word for it, go look yourselves. That dude is worth knowing about and could win if he gets more people on board.

Heh, give us a little credit. I’m sure Yang would get more attention here if Bernie wasn’t a thing. There’s just no need for Diet Capitalist Bernie when we’ve got the original right here in the running.

He’s better than diet capitalist Bernie. He’s the guy who perfected pitching leftist ideas to gop voters. It’s a thing of beauty to watch when you realize that’s what he’s doing. It’s like watching someone deprogram cult members.

I’m telling you they’re gettable. You know they are because Bernie gets some of them.

She had staff?

exactly my reaction

I presumed she figured out some loophole where campaign could pay your rent if you called it election HQ or something and was just doing that.

GTFO smart guy

All these Q4 fundraising stories are so tilting. Why isn’t the appropriate metric “trump vs combined Dems” instead of “trump vs individual Dems”?

Like this Politico story about Trump’s “massive” Q4 haul waits until the 6th paragraph to mention that Bernie and Pete alone had 60M, which is a lot more than 46M. But you have to do the math yourself.

Agree.

Also, I understand that amount of money raised is an important metric. But when Bernie’s campaign says “holy shit look at all this money we got” I want them to say in their next breath “it is absurd that you need this much money to run for president and the system needs to change”.

That’s been said just short of an infinite number of times.

Trump raising his $50 million or whatever from the usual cast of Scrooge McDuck asshat donors just highlights how incredible it is for Bernie to raise $35 million from Starbucks and Amazon workers. The takeaway is a massive, organic movement! And the NYT framing is “Bernie trails Trump in fundraising.” GTFO
