What's the most liked song of all time?

We Got A Bleeder by Goblin Cock

Too much auto hate because it’s Michael Jackson.

Gotta be “Happy Birthday To You”.

It’s very short. It’s easy to sing. It’s sung at a party thrown by friends and family in your name. Most importantly, it’s a song about you. How can somebody hate a song dedicated to celebrating them?

It’s also a song sung in hundreds of languages. That makes it accessible to nearly every person on Earth.

All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey.

First thought was Hotel California (soft rock isn’t going to offend anyone). Also, did you know Norah Jones has a top 40 most sold album ever? Santana’s '99 album with various different singers is even higher.

Don’t Stop Believing is up there

Mr Brightside has been on charts longer than most songs mentioned.

I think “Happy Birthday” should be excluded, since it’s barely even a ditty.

Likewise, I’ve never thought of “100 Bottles of Beer” or “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” as being songs.

OTOH, “Jingle Bells” used to be super popular, although it no longer seems to be ever present every Christmas.

I dont think many of these songs are liked, never mind “well liked.”

I guess we’re kind of mixing together “most liked” with “most well known”

I feel like you could be on the right track with this one. Feels like the kind of song you either genuinely loved from the beginning, or at least think of as a guilty pleasure, or you sort of hate it but somehow you can’t turn it off when it’s on and then by the end you’re singing along to it.

Fairytale of New York has made the top 20 in the UK and Ireland every year since 2005.

A lot of people hate that song though.
