I’ve had enough. I was picking through the back matter of the book du jour and see that one of the fonts is…wait for it…Trump Mediaeval. THEY’RE NAMING FONTS FOR THE SOB! Don’t tell him or he’s likely to start demanding a royalty.
Part 3 the conclusion
I’m about 300 pages into the Stand and it’s just okay at this point. Despite it being such a drawn out book so far, I am still very interested in seeing what becomes of the characters and the general plot of the story.
I do not like, and I understand it might be necessary as the story may become more of a battle between factions, the constant shift between the characters individual stories. Like Larry underwood just annoys me and I’m hoping he dies so I don’t have to read his journeys anymore, but because I also seem to easily forget things when you’ve got 5 different character adventures all going at once and I’m trying to remember the little nuances between them all.
Id rather just read Stu Redman’s or Nick Andros’s adventure - two characters that I like, throughout the entire book. But I understand that that might go against what the plot of the book may become. I will continue reading.
Regular or extended edition?
Regular, 817 pages.
I’m about halfway through Pines by Blake Crouch, the first book in the Wayward Pines trilogy that was the basis for the TV adaptation.
I also just finished reading his other book Recursion for the second time via audiobook.
So now I’ve read his books Recursion, Upgrade, Dark Matter, and half of Pines.
This Crouch guy is a master storyteller. Great characters, high concept stories, tons of twists and cliffhangers, satisfying endings.
I wonder how this would hit now. As a teen it blew my mind.
Finished Demon Copperhead. I liked it. As a Pulitzer it’s on the good side but not an all time great. Similar to the goldfinch for me.
Read the The Stand early this year for the first time and loved it, probably my favorite King work. Extended edition seems like the way to go too.
Stay the hell away from Game of Throwns then…
Finally finished “The indifferent Stars above”. I probably would have starved long before they did. I often find myself checking google maps to see where they were at some point similar to the tv show “1883”. Would like to follow that trail on VR adventure. In the end when you realize what those people went through, what they experienced and died younger than I am right now I cant stop realizing what a boring life a live. I mean I dont want to fight for my life the whole time but just the summary of that Hastings guy how many endeavours he had in his life is kinda amazing. Just never stopping always trying to find the next angle.
Unfortunately recently I found myself more often listening to audio books than reading the books while on train or a bus. Thats why it took me quite some time to finish the book while I also have bought more books. :D
Well, black friday is coming up, you could always try to get a cheap tv if you want some excitement in your life…
