Welcome to the Noncompliance: The Faux-King Parade

It’s easier to fit on a protest sign, making this the most useful thing Cox has done.

Bunch of freaks live in the Avenues here.

The guy in the Trump flag truck is all we’re all human why can’t we respect each other and get along. C’mon, man.

Sorry, I guess FOX wants to control viewing their content for some reason. It’s just a newsclip of a Teslatakedown event in SLC yesterday.

I don’t see these events planned out very far in advance. I’m surprised they can get many people to show up.

Researchers used to say that no government could survive if just 5% of its population rose up against it. Our data showed that the number may be lower than that. No single campaign has failed during that time period after they had achieved the active and sustained participation of just 3.5% of the population. And lots of them succeeded with far fewer than that.

Today was biggest set of #Teslatakedown protests so far, with over 500 planned worldwide. Here in SLC we had, guessing, over 200 people. Some of those were counter protesters, including a handful of MAGA carrying sidearms. They had little badges around their necks that said “Kill your local pedophile.” They were clearly there to provoke confrontations and there were a couple of shouting matches.

The organizers here weren’t visible and there wasn’t anyone to de-escalate. Saw one cop car kind of hanging around but they never even got out of the car as far as I could tell. With the numbers around the country, I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody gets hurt. I felt uncomfortable at times so I didn’t hang around for the whole thing.

Guy on the right here parked his dark grey Elon-mobile in the Tesla lot and worked the windows up and down and honked the horn (which is kind of wimpy iyam) remotely using his phone to annoy people. He seemed to focus on people carrying anti-Nazi signs and got into it with one guy who flashed him a salute. He repeated, “You think I’m a Nazi?” “You think I’m a Nazi?” Funny, because I was thinking he was.

On the bright side, dogs.

Paraphrasing a convo I just had with one center left normie and a Trumper/Elon fan boy

Fan Boy - "did y’all see that interview on Fox w/Elon and some DOGErs? I don’t see how anyone can be mad at these people. They’re geniuses who could be doing anything and they’re volunteering to help fix the government.

Centrist - Might be a few Tesla shareholders who want Elon to go back to his day job.

Fan Boy- What?!? The stock is up 83% this year.

Me - pulls up stock chart When Trump took office, the stock was over $400. It’s at $260ish now. If, by, “this year” you mean since last March, yeah, it’s up a lot, but that was basically all before Elon started DOGE-ing.

Fan Boy- Huh. Well, I really don’t follow the stock that closely.

[Points for admitting he was wrong I guess, but it would feel like more of a win if I though it might get him to reevuate the source that fed him the “Tesla still up bigly” talking point]

You: What else do you spout off about that you don’t follow that closely?

April 5th there should be protests all over. “Hands Off!” or something. Look it up for something near you. I’m going to one locally.

April 12th going to a Bernie and AOC event in LA.

I’ll be there!

I’m already there, actually. Just a few minutes walk from here. Bernie and AOC will never come here. SAD.

I often have gone to protests with essentially no expectation that they will do anything, but I think these protests now do.

The Elon protests are going to hurt Tesla sales. Few people want their cars to be any kind of political statement and there are so many alternatives now.

The Trump protests? I don’t know about undoing anything he’s done, but a lot of people out there might slow things down a little… Maybe give someone pause before invading Canada or deporting citizens.

I also pwned him earlier this week when he went off about how Jeffrey Goldberg was a liar and there was cerainly no classified info in the Signal group because everyone in DC political circles uses Signal every day so they know exactly what can and can’t be put in Signal. By the time I checked the news the next day, Goldberg had already published the receipts. All I said then was, next time you want to make bets on who is telling the truth and who is lying to you, don’t go all in on the side that has way more incentive to lie to your face

Real life dunking must be so satisfying. I don’t get many chances.

I did high level debate in hs and college and I got a little burnt out on dunking for dunking sake… But, this dude deserves the full 360 windmill whenever I get the chance.

Is this the right thread to ask about the idea of getting enough people together to buy out a few categories of items from the grocery and see if we can start the perception of a run on items caused by tariffs?

I guess that falls under the category of “preclusive purchasing.” So, sure.

I was wrong. Bernie showing up

I’m off to protest. I forgot it’s also Mormon General Conference this weekend. There’s also construction around the Temple. If the MAGA militias come out to circle the capitol it could be interesting.

Still a bit chilly for me but I’ll be wearing my homemade t-shirt.
