Most riots are started by the police. I don’t mean that they conspire to secretly start it, but the trigger of a riot is usually police getting into formation and moving in on a crowd.

I see we’re having two protests here in SLC next Saturday. One in the morning at the U and the other late in the day downtown. I see a lot of walking in my future. Audiobooks and podcasts for me.

I’ve heard through the activist grapevine that ICE is planning raids in Vista and Escondido (north San Diego county) tomorrow. Might have to go out, since Esco is fairly close to me.

One thing I rarely see mentioned in the safety tips stuff is to bring a towel (yes yes douglas adams etc etc).
If you are teargassed, you are going to need/want to be able to clean yourself up, because one thing you aren’t prepared for is the absolutely prodigious amounts of mucus your body will create and send shooting out of your eyes, nose, mouth, lungs, whatever.
Easiest to just point your face to the ground and let it flow, but after it’s out of your system, you need something besides your shirt to wipe your face with.
Bring a towel.
