@Rugby
Outstanding
$20 to be paid by me first business day of January starting in 2024 and every January thereafter until Trump receives a guilty verdict in any jurisdiction within the United States at which point rugby pays me $100. Death ends the bet. Plea deals count as long as there is sentencing?? (please confirm)
@Melkerson
Outstanding
$100 receiving +170 jury finds Trump guilty of at least 1 count and delivers verdict no later than 4/16/26. Any verifiable non court delay to be added to the 4/16/26 deadline
Please quote and confirm outstanding. If I missed any, please let me know. If anyone else would like to add or offer wagers ($100 max) please reply
*rugby please let me know if you’re okay with my wording. A plea deal is an admission of guilt, but I get that you want consequences (don’t we all?), so I added that there needs to be some sentence attached. He can’t just pay a fine or get a suspended sentence with terms such as he returns the documents and nothing else happens or he agrees never to run for office again and nothing else happens. This is a huge hit to me. This, along with my thinking your payment would be $600 when my end hits makes this by far, my worst bet. But I agreed to it, so I’ll honor it as described here. Let me know
Hey. Close enough. But sticking with the original post for the final details.
Guilty verdict needs to be upheld, not just handed down. I’m happy to include a guilty plea with a real consequence as going with the spirit but not letter of the bet.
Sorry I don’t understand. Is it that I neglected the 1159PM Easter time? I agree to that and although I’d prefer we each choose a charity, I’ll agree to settle via Paypal. Are we good?
Not sure I understand this. Do you mean if he’s found guilty and is later acquitted on appeal? If so, I agree to that.
Honestly, I feel like only grue adhered to the spirit of the bet. “He’ll never be indicted”. Yes he will. “Ok let’s bet on that” Done. “He’ll never be indicted on a federal level”. Yes he will. “Ok let’s bet on that” Done. That was the consensus of the forum (that nothing will ever happen to him, and all the commudus.gifs, etc.). Now I’m dealing with esoteric wagers requiring me to put money up front and all these stipulations. That’s okay. I still think I’ll win, but it’s far from what I feel was the spirit and consensus of the forum when I first got involved
I’m not a mind reader. I’m not responsible for what you were thinking when you made the bet. I put all this in the original bet proposal. Like explicitly. With examples to illustrate.
Go back and read the original. If theres anything that isnt clear in that post then let’s discuss.
Guilty by jury was in the bet. I’m happy to go outside the terms of the bet and pay for pleading guilty with consequences. That’s me going above and beyond, so if you dont want then we can just go back to the terms as agreed.
This is very unambiguous. I dont understand your confusion.
We’re good. I’m just pointing out that my original position was that he’s going to get indicted for something when the forum consensus was overwhelmingly of the opinion that nothing will ever happen. Then my position was that he’ll be found guilty of something while the consensus was that’ll never happen. Maybe you’re right and you never held those views, but just jumped in to make a different wager. I’m too lazy to go back and read all of your previous posts. I do know for a fact that Melkerson held the very simple view that he won’t even be indicted for anything and now there are multiple stipulations outside of those very simple parameters. But I made the bets and I’ll honor them as is
Cool. Now weve settled the bet we can get back to arguing politics.
My position is that he will never face meaningful consequences. Theres a ton of ways Trump can escape consequences. Including the “fuck you no, make me” defence. He could get a guilty verdict and still completely escape consequences
Generally, I think we should shape government from the bottom up (i.e. focus on local judges, representatives, and senators). But when it comes to accountability, I think it should be from the top down starting with the president, corrupt members of congress, corrupt SCOTUS officials, etc. While Trump may be the most brazen in his corruption, he is far from the only one. They all need to be held accountable and maybe this will be the start. Government should fear the People, not the other way around
Yeah, we’re good. The third thing was the “added time part” is not straightforward if it arises and we will need to discuss it if it should come up. So if you’re good with that we’re good.
