Down to one hand now, #5 for 13 points is @JohnnyTruant with KRS-One - Sound of da Police
Here we have a Bronx hip-hop legend with a song from the early 90’s that’s as relevant as ever. Research tells me that he’s of Jamaican decent, and you can definitely hear elements of reggae in this song. It’s a great song where art and message collide.
In at #4 for 14 points is @smrk4 with Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers - One Track Mind
This is probably where my love for punk got the best of me, but songs that are short and fast and happy like this is just get me every time. I’ve got a one-track mind and I’m not apologizing for it.
With the bronze, coming in at 15 points is @MimosaDef with A Tribe Called Quest - We the People.
Similar to the submission a couple of spots earlier, here is song from a Queens hip-hop legend with a conscience and a sound worth listening to. Looking it up, the internet tells me it’s from one of their more recent albums. It’s new to me and will be on my playlists.
With silver and 16 points is @Rexx with Cyndi Lauper - True Colors
This is the notable exception to the familiarity rule. Sometimes the older ones are just the best ones. And this is among the best. Bonus points for songs that make me cry and this is one with the voice of an angel, and a melody and lyrics that are timeless. It wins all the points. Take all the points.
We have to see what Riv has decided, but I will be away until after the new year, so my next reveal won’t be until 2020. it should give you enough time to get over this grave injustice and move on to the next one.
@Jalfrezi I’m about to clean the house, give me a word, song or artist to type into Pandora or Spotify and see where it takes me. A little over an hour of cleaning, then I’ll report back.
Also, selfish petition for Mr Rivaldo to do the rest of his reveals and brouhaha’s with Jalfrezi between now and New Years to sate our desires for more Walrus.
