I mean, if he’s going to make a new deal with Iran and pull the US out of the ME, then that’s essentially strategic victory for Iran. This is the usual mind melting stuff, and I assume means close to nothing.
If they shot it down it probably wouldn’t have been in purpose. I don’t think we meant to shoot down an Iranian civilian jet in 1988 either.
Well that was a bunch of bullshit and lies. And him snorting into the microphone every few seconds made me want to vomit my breakfast…
So 10 minutes well spent id say
Trump repeatedly undercuts his “imminent threat” argument by saying Soleimani should have been killed “long ago”. Were there imminent threats long ago? Ha. I tend to think he’s using a pretty broad definition of “imminent”.
I don’t think it means anything to him. He’s just saying the buzz words that get people too scared to think through what he’s saying.
Does he know what imminent means? Lol ponied.
I do, but he’s using other words I don’t know (tolerited, accomplimensh) so who am I to criticalize Stable Genius?
I only tuned it around “tolerited” but I must say this was probably his best-delivered pre-written speech, from a technical standpoint. Sure, he still had the glassy-eyed look and halting speech of someone translating a series of alien glyphs one syllable at a time, but he was fully into 4th-grade-reading-level territory here.
An accomplimensch is the elusive good guy billionaire. Chuck Feeney is an accomplimensch.
Cliffs on what he actually said?
Dead guy bad; USA good; Iran on notice. Haven’t seen it yet but confidence in this simulated projection is high.
Sounds like I missed the expected coherent discussion filled with the sober facts and statesmen like diplomacy. Lol keed.
keep us all posted
If anyone thinks Iran is done with this incident, they are crazy.
Unfortunately you’re correct…
Agree. They’ll just continue to respond via means that will be hard to attribute directly to Iran–whether as cyber attacks or physical attacks coordinated with proxies. Hopefully they’ll be able to walk the fine line between responding and causing a big enough stink that Trump’s ego decides to escalate again.
If they do absolutely nothing I’d be worried they’re getting close to a nuke.
That, but also, I’d be willing to bet they make an attack on something personal to him. But I think it will come a long time down the road.
There is a strong belief among some security experts that Iran is likely to target domestic infrastructure with a cyber attack. That could mean: electric utilities, oil & gas industry, healthcare, financial services or government.
They’ve been probing and growing their capabilities for years. They attacked a NY dam in 2014 and Las Vegas Sands casino in 2016 (though those dates may be reversed). They are basically an A-list cyber-player these days, on par with NK but maybe not US or Russia.
There is a general acceptance that China, Russia and US can shut down (likely small) parts of each others’ electric grid, for instance. Iran probably can as well. Intrusions targeting and probing industrial control technology are becoming more common, particularly as electric grids become more interconnected and distributed.
The problem with this, is that the results could be devastating. Particularly if health care facilities are impacted. So there is a subset of thought that cyberattacks will likely target IT systems rather than SCADA/ICS.
Nah they’re meaningless. He already has no recollection of what he said or maybe that there was even a presser at all.
