The answer is always yes, regardless of what the rest of the sentence is.
The worst thing here is that the two options are:
- Bad stuff
- No bad stuff and Trump supporters being like âsee, we killed the bad guy and no bad stuff happenedâ
Nobody is really going to remember any of this by the end of February. The news cycles are going to stay crazy.
Thank God he wonât have a hundred rallies this year thatâll be partially televised by CNN and mostly televised by Fox News in which heâll describe in great detail how he parachuted into Baghdad and strangled Soleimani with his bare hands. Soleimani managed to scratch his face, and a little bit of blood trickled down President Donald J. Trumpâs cheek - it was magical blood - red, white and blue.
Itâll end with⌠âIâd say you should see the other guy, but, thereâs nothing left to see.â
Looks like reports of Iraqi casualties were in error:
Iraqi security officials are now telling CNN there are no casualties among Iraqi security forces following the attacks on the al-Asad airbase in Anbar province and the attacks in Erbil.
This is updated information from security officials following the initial assessment. Earlier Wednesday, an Iraqi security source told CNN that there had been Iraqi casualties.
âWe were initially hearing that there were casualties â it was unclear how many or if they were killed or wounded â on the Iraqi side,â CNNâs Arwa Damon reported from Baghdad.
âNow weâre hearing from two other sources that there may not be casualties â that does make sense given how chaotic the aftermath of these strikes can be.â
I feel itâs increasingly likely that Iran delivered a warning of the strikes. Remember, Iraq is an Iranian ally. Not sure they would lob ballistic missiles at their soldiers without a warning.
As long as Fox and Friends declares victory tomorrow morning I think weâre ok here.
The more I think about it the more I feel like Donny saying âAll is well!â while simultaneously claiming he didnât yet know what the casualty reports would be is another example of how bad he is at lying. My guess is he already knew there would be no casualties.
I was surprised by how direct the response from Iran was. If they luckboxed killing like 200 US soldiers they would be staring down the barrel of fully fledged war for sure. It makes more sense that they delivered a warning first and therefore knew that wouldnât happen. They can spin this as an aggressive, direct response while not risking full scale war.
If this is the beginning of a de-escalation, how does Hannity spin it?
Monday: If Iran retaliates, we should bomb all the cultural sites and take their oil!
Tuesday: Iran has retaliated, Trump has no choice but to respond with overwhelming strength. Mr. President, unleash the bombers!
Wednesday: Trump was right not to continue the cycle of pointless retaliation. He showed heâs the bigger man and the US has nothing to prove. All Hail Trump for solving Iran!
I donât watch Hannity, but even the Trumper on the Newshour tonight said:
We have no choice now whatsoever. Weâre under attack. This is war. We have no choice but to win the escalation ladder.
After his bluster and threats, inaction from Trump at this point sort of throws all his supporters under the bus (again).
So I guess we wait and see if this placates the Iranians in the streets?
Theyâll just go âwell lucky they didnât kill anyone, if they did weâd have to bomb them for sure, but no harm no foul, they just better not get out of line againâ. Conservative media routinely make 180s like that, nobody cares as long as theyâre still triggering the libs.
Apparently Hannity is already spinning this as a win for Trump because the fact that there were no US casualties means that Iran blinked and just did this to save face. (At least I read that over on the bigot forum.)
He must not have gotten the message until after he went on the air tonight.
US official: Military had early warning of missile attack
From CNNâs John Kirby
A US military official has told CNN that the military did have enough early warning of the ballistic missile attack on airbases in Iraq to sound the alarm.
People in harmâs way were able to get to bunkers in time, the official said.
Wellwellwell.jpg
Edit: Not entirely clear if he just means radar warning, it was reported ages ago that they spotted the missiles on radar and got into bunkers.
Too Strong âWe shot down the missiles with ease, there weak and they know itâ It was good practice for our boys when the real shit starts⌠Or something similar, they donât care tbh.
As Chris says.
U.S. forces at Iraqi bases most likely had some warning before missiles launched by Iran struck Wednesday morning local time, thanks to a facility devoted to detecting and providing alerts about launches anywhere in the world, according to public documents and a former senior intelligence official.
So not meaning a warning from Iran, I guess. Although again, this may be the US agreeing to allow Iran to save face.
JFC Trump still manages to infuriate me somehow. These Iraqis are our hosts and theoretically our military allies. They asked us to please leave, we trolled them with a mistranslated letter that said we would leave and then we were like âsike!â Now twenty of them are dead because we provoked Iran and Trump is all like âALL IS WELL.â Fucking hell, I donât know if we even disrespected the army of South Vietnam this badly.
?
I thought the latest news was no Iraqi or US casualties?
I thought I head a report of 20 casualties, sry that was fake news. Lot of bullshit getting tweeted out there but I should know better.

You guys are way more confident than I that Trump wonât just wake up in pissed off senile old man mood tomorrow and weâre at war.
Or Hannity and the war mongers get in his ear and drown out whoever steered him off the cliff tonight.
