I think the absolute worst part of this is we have Trump as president. Of course without Trump we would have never likely gotten to this specific point.

There is zero check of any sort on the military by the executive branch at this point so I guess we get to see what happens when the us military is 100% uninhibited. This all was so incredibly avoidable and unnecessary. Trump is responsible for almost all the events that now put us in direct conflict.

I have no doubt his campaign advisors are ejaculating over the potential of a war to replace his impeachment story line.

If some foreign country dropped a bomb on Trump’s head, I would not shed a single tear. Allegedly.

Mark me down as being moderately skeptical that a war with Iran would benefit Florida Man politically, and although there aren’t enough dry cleaners in Pickens County to clean up Lindsay Graham’s britches atm, this is not moving any needles otherwise. Also wait for how Florida Man’s Russian masters react, this puts them in a spot.

Sorry, but I can’t imagine Trump doing a reassuring job of articulating his plan regarding Iran. He’s a real-estate crook, not a statesman or a leader, and I think we’ll be seeing that painfully displayed in the coming days and weeks. We’ll see how it goes, but I don’t see this as being a routine case of an American President getting a popularity boost by starting a military conflict.

Vietnam destroyed Johnson, Iraq 2 hurt W a lot in the second term. Reaching, but Korea looked pretty bad for Truman a year out. Like military actions are one thing, huge wars are another.
