Cliffs: I maneuvered an abysmal draft to the best team in the league, my team sucks now, I has a sad.
I’m in a super competitive 16-teamer where only 6 make playoffs. Had 1st pick, took CMac obv, then drafted a bunch of high quality WRs: ARob, Aiyuk, Juju, Keenan Allen (the only one who turned good, although still didn’t justify his draft spot I don’t think).
In spite of this abysmal squad and running bad on schedule matchups, I obliterated trades:
Turned Pollard, Keenan, and Juju into Jonathan Taylor and Claypool.
Turned Prescott and ARob into Mahomes and Michael Carter.
Turned Gainwell into Gronk.
Turned Alex Collins into Jeudy.
I started 3-6 but I really had a chance to win out and in doing so would be good on points to win any tiebreakers.
So now I’m 5-6 and I still have to win all three games. I’m a decent favorite in all three, but I need some help even I win out. So I just professionally poison pill some guy at the trade deadline so it doesn’t go through until week 12:
I trade two remaining weeks of J. Taylor and Kirk for three Dalvin and Tee Higgins, also destroying this guy’s week 14 win equity which would give me a chance to overtake him.
Somehow, I still won this week with CMC and Roethlisberger as my QB. But I scored too few points and lost both of my elite starting RBs. So now I’m 6-6 and have to win out with Breida and (??? Lindsay if I get him) in week 13 and Breida and Foreman in week 14. I have a weak schedule (40%ish equity next week, slight favorite still week 14), but even if I win out, I might lose the tiebreakers now.
Edit: Only two drafted players are still on my team, CMac and Hunter Henry.
