Ukraine, Russia, and the West

That’s bad, really bad

I thought mines weren’t used anymore in Western countries? Also, where is he taking it? Who’s mine? Why would the Russians plant mines considering they are more likely to trigger it? Why would Ukrainians plant mines on their own soil?

In or by?

I think only anti-personnel mines are banned.

Those stupid sexy Swedes are a ticking time bomb and can’t be trusted.

Natural gas makes up 25% of Germany’s total energy consumption, and the country relies on Russia for 55% of its gas supply.

The article also says the US delivered more LNG to Europe than Russia in January but I don’t know how sustainable tanking so much fuel will be in the longer term.

Hope. Keep hoping. We have all been. For a long time.

Yes. The mine in that tweet is an anti-tank mine. It has operating pressure somewhere in the range of 100-400kg.

Obviously very unlikely that Russia would try, even if we weren’t part of NATO - same as it’s unlikely with Finland or Sweden.

But in the post Ukraine invasion world, it’s not hard to imagine an aggressive Russia challenging the territorial integrity of a non-NATO Norway in numerous non-violent ways - which they’re already doing. Things like subs at the very edge/across the edge of our territory, fishing fleets fishing within our borders etc etc.

Can still happen if we’re part of NATO obviously, but probably less so and in less overt ways.

made the mistake of turning on NBC coverage. MTP chuck turdface ends the ukraine segment with “how much is that going to cost americans?”

:face_vomiting: :man_facepalming: :facepunch:

also his entire panel is still living in last week news, thinking that putin can still be appeased with a part of ukraine and no nato guarantees to refrain from nukes. and that ua can be supplied and trained by us to indefinitely contain him. uhhh, he hasn’t been watching the last 8 years?

it’s very hard to imagine any of that right now man in war terms

in annoying jerk terms they do that with everyone

Maybe we can throw some “clean” coal onto the decks of LNG tankers to really help the green energy revolution.

absolutely no idea if true or not but it’s out there

there’s a video i won’t link, of a ukranian soldier loading an ak mag, and dipping the rounds into pork fat. his commentary is directed at chechen muslim fighters.

we don’t need this right now.

ukranian MP says that klitschko’s interview quote is misunderstood. it’s not safe to evacuate, as people can run into russian brigades, but kyiv is not surrounded

Who needs pornhub when you have this.

Not securing air dominance over the skies has been devastating for Russia.

encircled apparently…

Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv’s mayor and former world heavyweight boxing champion, has described the Ukraine capital as “encircled” and said a civilian evacuation would not be possible “because all ways are blocked”.

“We are at the border of a humanitarian catastrophe,” he told Associated Press on Sunday as a curfew continued in the city which he said allowed authorities to hunt “saboteurs” on the streets. “Right now, we have electricity, right now we have water and heating in our houses. But the infrastructure is destroyed to deliver the food and medication.”

“That’s why the message for everyone is: support Ukraine together … We are strong,” he said. “Every Ukrainian is proud to be independent, proud to be Ukrainian, and we are proud to have our own country.”

i saw that interview translation. just saying the MP is contradicting the assessment

i also remember taking pictures of Mriya as a kid at an air show. RIP if true.
