Ukraine Invasion 2: We're the baddies now

And Epstein now.

I hope the end result of this is that he tanks his company for what was likely a few million dollars.

The Russia stuff should be more impactful than Epstein connection. Ubiquiti makes really good hardware and their software is really known for being easy to manage.

Yeah, Epstien did some nefarious shit with his gmail account and iPhone (or Android) as well. He was a US consumer. These are US consumer devices.

The Russia stuff is a lot more concerning for Ubiquiti, but a lot of their equipment works without any cloud/online management unless you are running a gateway for a small network like the various Dream Machines. Once it’s physically there and air gapped, there isn’t much anyone can do other than destroy it. Ultimately it’s smuggling and Ubiquiti should be taking this seriously working on curtailing that.

Agreed. On Russia, there are allegations of illegal activity by Ubiquiti (sanctions circumvention). The only thing Hunterbrook reported on the Epstein connection is that it appears their tech was found on the island. But, AFAIK, (1) Epstein wasn’t legally prohibited from having the internet and (2) ubiquiti just makes off the shelf products for consumers and sells through distributors, so it’s not like the company would have been directly consulting with him to develop the internet and surveillance setup.

Tl/dr: Russia is the steak, using Epsteins name is the sizzling follow up that Hunterbrook is hoping will make them lots of $ on their short position in Ubiquiti stock…

might have boycotted his IPO.

Makes sense but I also have a hard time believing Musk investors gaf.

Trillion dollar anything seems, you know, a bit much.

Not if you need the money for your Dyson Sphere.

Is that the latest in vacuum cleaning?

Latest update on Pokrovsk:

So just a matter of time.

Meanwhile Ukraine is counterattacking in Zaporizhzhia. If russia is able to advance west enough here they would be able to push north and threaten Zaporizhzhia city.

(Looks like a penis.) This is what DS posted with the map:

The gray color on the map reflects the penetration areas

:white_medium_small_square:In fact, this decision has been long overdue. The war has changed seriously over the past year and the classic understanding of the line of combat contact has already disappeared. There are no two lines of trenches in which the front line sits and fights.

::counterclockwise_arrows_button:: The war has taken on strange forms - “secrets”, quasi-front line, infiltrations, etc. In some villages, you can’t even draw a local line, because in one basement ours, in another Katsaps, then again ours, then again Katsaps. And these positions may never fight among themselves. Because positions often don’t fight, drones fight. And the task of such positions is to survive, and often to do this you need not to give yourself away.

I think the gray is based on russian artillery shells landing there. It’s a pretty big win for Ukraine I think. No one really knows what is going on though.

I can’t figure out how to unroll this in English. Cliffs are Ukraine was able to clear out some key areas due to the starink outage. They also used a lot of armor, which is rare now.

It’s unknown if these are now controlled by Ukraine or if they are just gray. Mostly russia was using these as transit posts for infantry to continue advancing into Ukrainian territory.

Looking at a picture so zoomed in you can see individual farms it seems like maybe battle lines are moving.

Everything remaining the same, except the casualties have some seasonal variation.

I don’t think this is accurate:

At least not when looking at civilian casualties. The civilian casualties are more a reflection of russia’s long strike campaign, and not the front line strategy.

russia has pretty much failed at maneuver warfare, so they have been unable to move the lines drastically. After they failed their initial invasion, they changed their war objectives from taking Ukraine to attempting to make it a failed state.

Their primary goals are to kill people on the front line and to get within shelling range of cities to make life unlivable. As far as killing people goes: it’s unclear how many casualties Ukraine is taking on the front line, but it’s high. Even if the lines aren’t moving much that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot happening on the front line. (Ukraine is pretty much engaged in the same strategy after their failed counteroffensive: they are now focused on killing as many russian infantry as possible.)

As far as moving the front line so that russia can shell major cities: since taking Avdiivka in February 2024, russia has been attempting to conquer Pokrovsk. This was a major transit hub in Donetsk, and then became essentially a fortification to prevent russia from advancing further.

Ukraine’s strategy is to use drones to kill as many russians as possible, but to preserve lives they try not to engage with russia and accept that this means they will lose territory at a quicker pace until russia reaches chokepoints. The two main places where russia has advanced to these chokepoints is Pokrovsk and the river protecting Zaporizhzhia.

The top map I posted shows that russia has essentially taken over Pokrovsk. This means another stage of the war is about to begin. This year will be a test if the fortifications Ukraine built while holding Pokrovsk will be enough to stall russia from taking land at a much faster pace.

The second map I posted is the eastern front of Zaporizhzhia. russia has been unable to advance into Zaporizhzhia from the south due to Ukraine’s south facing fortifications. By pushing north towards Pokrovks, russia is now able to advance west into Zaporizhzhia. If they are able to get past this river then they will be north of the fortifications and then able to work their way to Zaporizhzhia city and shell it.

So while these are extremely zoomed in maps and they don’t reflect a lot of movement in either direction, they are chokepoints which have been holding russia back for 2 years and it’s unclear what happens when they fall. One is definitely falling/fallen already, the other is going to be a major fight most likely.

Highest quality video of a patriot intercept I’ve ever seen. He claims this is likely a Zircon intercept:

Every patriot system the EU has should be active in Ukraine defending civilians. One of my biggest frustrations with the EU.

Seems like Greece and Spain need to meet your frustrations… or the yanks.. maybe Oz could buy a couple and donate?

I think right now the problem is a lack of patriot missiles. Ukraine has a very small amount they are saving for ballistic missiles.

The strategy Ukraine has been forced to employ is not what patriots were meant for. They are expensive, and not many are manufactured each year. They are intended to be used while attacking the enemy’s launch capabilities, but Ukraine was never given the necessary capabilities to do that. Biden never gave enough then Trump cut them off completely.

Israel and Iran are a good example of what the strategy is supposed to look like: fire expensive interceptors while hunting strike capabilities. Even near the end of that Israel was having to decide which missiles to hit and which to let through.

Don’t know where those numbers are coming from. Holland has 2 patriot batteries currently deployed to the Ukraine/Polish border that could help intercept missiles but are only allowed to engage if the target is in Poland. Although I do agree the limiting factor could be the missiles and not the systems.

They’re the numbers. You seem to think EU has hundreds of Patriots hagning round that haven’t been donated. UK has no Patroits, nor France (we got our own missiles). Ergo, the vast majority of Patriots in EU have already be donated to the cuase and those countries that like manufacture the Patriots have decided they’d prefer to suck Putin’s cock than donate the Patriots (or sell ‘em to someone else that might donate)

We’re close to ‘every’ being active (see the numbers - if you don’t agree with the numbers, where are your numbers?) unless the EU lines Donny’s pockets to buy some more? Or do you have a couple of batteries hanging round in your back yard that you could donate?

The numbers according to who. There is an active deployment of 2 Dutch patriot systems in Poland that according to those ‘defense express’ numbers don’t exist. So either those numbers are wrong or there are different types of patriot systems and it is only counting the type we are willing to give to Ukraine.

This is from after we sent patriots to Ukraine saying Holland still has 3 more:

There have also been continuous comments in Dutch news about militairy people complaining the batteries deployed in Poland can actually target the incoming missiles heading for targets in Ukraine but aren’t allowed to engage.

First footage I’ve seen of a ground drone killing someone.

A Ukrainian ground drone, equipped with a Browning M2 machine gun, eliminates the occupier.
