Apparently word isn’t getting through to the pro-Russian telegram channels that Ukraine massacred their own citizens at Bucha.

I have to retract that, his initial rank was Rear Admiral. “Commander” was used colloquially.
i think in the UA Navy he was promoted two levels. I don’t see commander on the wiki, i think the closest rank is Commodore, which is probably just commander in ukrainian. after that it’s kontr-admiral and vice-admiral.
ahhh, i see he was already admiral.
hilarity continues over on land.

Seems like they are fighting like they don’t think they will be taken alive if they surrender, and I think that is probably correct.
there’s a range of emotions. there are people who hate biden, but appreciate his support for ukraine, and there are those who hate biden and probably think he’s arming ukraine wrongfully or maliciously. there are those who had been in the russian court/repression system and are legitimately damaged emotionally by it, and are afraid of putin’s regime as a monster that will never fall, or something that must be eliminated as soon as possible without remorse.
i can totally see shame as a very common emotion. i fee it myself
mariupol is definitely going to be a focal point very soon. russia feels the urgency to do it now, whether for easter or may 9th isn’t relevant imo. if they cannot do it now. it will cost thousands more lives and billions more dollars next month. ukraine had succeeded in resupplying azov a couple of times in secret. they really just need azovstal keep holding with resupplies, and keep drawing disproportionate forces away from donbass. it’s like a microcosm stalingrad. the russian LOC is very long. even Girkin said it’s dumb to attack such a long line, and that it will be a repeat of german stupidity at kursk.
there will be breaks in the LOC. one might be starting from kharkiv. one more big mistake by RU army, and the whole eastern invasion might implode.
Swag for days

This joke has already been done but it’s funny with actual pictures of the damaged ship

It’s unclear to me what’s happening, but this could be a pretty big deal. If the Russians are unable to keep their supply lines secure before they even get out of Izium, this whole offensive is a dead letter. It also suggests that the Ukrainians are going to pick the Russians apart once the initiative passes over to them.
