I agree with some of your “counters” but not this one. This is a bad counter, and easily countered itself. Tax frauds are cheaters whose mission is to lie and fool and pull one over. Sometimes they are successful. Sometimes smart people don’t catch them at first. Sometimes it takes years…but at the end of the day, they are still cons.
Plus, isn’t the IRS fighting him over that refund?
It’s the Senate, and it’s currently at like 65% on 538 and correlated with a Biden win.
One interesting way that Covid has fucked the president is that, since March, Cuomo has had an executive order in place tolling all time limits in all statutes. That includes all statutes of limitations in criminal statutes…

They have his state returns (as you said) and they should have most of the same stuff - - but in CA we send our federal in with our state forms.

Guys getting hundreds of millions of loans for properties and businesses that he says lose money? He’s either committing one crime - bank fraud - or another - tax fraud. That’s digestable, too.
This is a disastrous line to take. Hillary tried this 2016 by telling people to go to her website for details. That will not work. Biden needs a simple short narrative that appeals to voters emotions. Don’t ever give voters homework.

Everyone complains that the R’s are so much better at messaging, getting their bullet points through, etc, and begs the D’s to get better at messaging. Except the R’s messaging is “good” only because it lacks any good faith argument or facts. They just say stuff, put it out into the FNC echo chamber, repeat it again, repeat, repeat, repeat. You can’t match it if you are going to require a PowerPoint presentation evidencing the 30 steps proving Donald’s bank and tax fraud.
We all know it’s true. You just need to say it over and over and over.

Just want to say that it’s nice finally getting to know what’s in Trump’s tax returns. A fairly high profile unsolved* mystery that’s now solved.
*I mean, it’s just discovering that the guy everyone thought had done it had actually done it, but lol at $750.
Biden should remind Trump how lucky he is to have secret service protection for life.

Seriously a man can only run so good. Eventually he has to run normal for at least sixty consecutive seconds. Donald Trump is definitely the biggest fish on a heater in American history that I’m aware of. An American answer to stories about terrible kings of similar temperament.
At first I thought the same $750 number from 2016 and 2017 was wierd, but it’s clear that’s what trump “elected” to pay as an estimate while still figuring out more deductions. He probably wanted to pay something so he could say he paid taxes, but damn if he was gonna pony up four figures.
In 500 years everything will be radically different but I think Trump will be remembered, like Nero, as a historical standout.
Thats inviting him to counter accuse and demand that you prove that his outrageous claims are false. This is again walking right into Trumps trap. Your totally valid and good instincts are to have reasoned, thought out, documented, detailed, arguments. But that technique is worse than ineffective against Trumpism. This is what makes the debates so frustrating, you basically cannot engage a person like Trump in a good faith debate. You have to steer all the questions to a response that speaks directly to the audience with a compelling narrative. Anyone who gives a shit about facts and reason is already on team Biden. Trump only has traction with emotionally driven voters. You simply cannot win them over with bullet points. In any yes/no exchange they aren’t even going to listen to the facts they’re going to respond to which man “seemed stronger”.

Gotta be honest. I wouldn’t be angry if Iran fed this information to the Dems.
Pulling out of the Iran deal is responsible for covid running rampant through the country since the sanctions prevented them from obtaining medicine and medical supplies needed to treat their people. Toss that on top of assassinating one of their generals and tempting them into full-on war and Iran owning Trump would probably be justified.
It’s so unbelievable how something as simple as marginal tax rate is so hard to comprehend.

I get what you’re saying. I also believe 2016 Trump is different from 2020 Trump. There’s a reason he is losing with independents and getting drubbed in the suburbs. People who figured “Alright, we’ll give the outsider business man a shot” in 2016, or sat out because they hated Hillary, do have some realization now that he’s a con, or frankly, are just exhausted of him. They’re more apt to believe you now when you just say he’s a fraud.
Yes, the people who are never leaving Trump will cry FAKE NEWS, but if you just keep repeating that he’s a fraud and a con and cheated on his taxes, after seeing him for 4 years, it’s no longer cognitively dissonant to some. Rather, they can believe it based on what you’ve now seen and are tired of.
