if you don’t mind dealing with the softer backpack style, eBags has some really good alternatives to these more expensive ones
I’ve been using an eBags backpack for 15 years. It’s ratty af and embarrassing when people see it in work situations. I call it my K&R insurance which usually gets a laugh given the sorts of places I travel to.
But it’s designed almost perfectly and I hated the cotopaxi backpack I got as a replacement, which was stolen from a rental car in Houston after like 2 months of using it. Sorta illustrated my point lol.
yeah, i don’t love how it looks either, also made an unfortunate choice of color
May have been the remnants of last night’s psychedelics but the MLK house and National Park caused me to almost tear up a few times. The biggest building was closed due to Covid but still cool as hell. Right by my AirBnB is a ton of street graffiti art along a huge wall and in a tunnel. Thanks for the recommendation @TheNewT50 !
After the show tonight I ended up going to some random ass dive bar in Atlanta with some Billy Strings fans. I bought a few rounds of drinks and a round of shots.
Then, in the middle of an Atlanta bar,I said that there are racist people in Georgia.
One of the guys got escorted out by the on duty cop and the family yelled at me because racism doesn’t exist. Holy hell.
Racism is dead. I’ve never seen brainwashing like that.
I’m
Actually kind of shook. They were all flabbergasted about me saying that racism exists. Fat white boy tried to start shit lol. Like; right in front of black people and employees serving us.
Got two more billy show to see them at! Going to mock and ridicule.
Yikes. Which bar was this?
Little 5 corner Tavern. It was people from the concert I went with though. The people at the bar were cool. They were on some “Obama was a black president how does racism exist?!” shit.
Wrecking Bar is a good place to check out in that neighborhood.
Bearded Iris hazy. Not at their bar or brewery tho. On tap where I’m at. It’s delicious.
Met a ton of bluegrass players last night and one of them called Billy Failing, a member of Billy Strings, just because I told him I’m a big fan of the band and he showed up and I bought him at least one drink. Told him to put them all on my tab. Great night even though shows were cancelled because someone was pozzed with Covid .
Headed to Sedona, AZ with the family for a few days after Christmas if anybody has any hot tips.
The drive from Flagstaff to Sedona through the Coconino National Forest might be one of the coolest drives I’ve ever taken in my life. Probably worth a day trip if you’re there for a while.
Best place for bbq lunch in downtown Austin, or very close to downtown?
Yeah, there for a number of days and planning a day trip to the Grand Canyon via Flagstaff, looking forward to that drive.
Franklin is to barbecue as Levain is to cookies. Lines are an issue though (at least they were in the before times), so you kind of have to plan it out a bit.
Thanks - I should have a fair amount of time to wait if I need to, so I will probably give it a shot.
La Barbecue was great when I was there and lines aren’t as long.
Franklins and La Barbeque make my list as well. Not sure when you’ll be there, but, unfortunately, according to their website Franklins is closed this week b/c of a Covid outbreak amongst the staff.
For future reference, especially if you’re visiting and have limited time, is to order franklin’s online and pick it up. No line. There’s was a 5 pound meat minimum though.
