Speaking of Chicago, is there place to play poker there? Seems like horseshoe in Hammond offers it but the rivers casino doesn’t?

Also horseshoe says Monday 11am-Friday 5am? Surely they have it on weekend?

Hammond does not have poker on the weekend. Rivers does not yet have a poker room, but will next year, it sounds like. There are also Chicagoland poker rooms at Grand Victoria and Hollywood Aurora. I suppose you could also check out Chicago Charitable Games.

Are you going to be there on a weekend or weekdays?

That is dumb. I’ll be there on weekday and weekend. What does Chicagoland mean?

Yea I’m pretty sure your best bet for poker is looking up Chicago charitable games or Rockford charitable games (NW suburbs). They’re played in banquet halls ands its very informal. The button shuffles the second deck while the dealer deals. The quality of play is pretty poor though. Poker kinda sucks in Chicagoland at the moment

Chicagoland is just the metropolitan area of Chicago, including the burbs and NW Indiana

Where will you be based and how mobile will you be?

It’s not dumb from the casino’s perspective. With the dealer shortage, their poker dealers (most of whom are new) are also dealing table games. It’s more profitable to have them deal table games on the weekend. It sucks for poker players, but it makes sense.

Hyatt Regency on East Wacker Drive, i think near the river and yea that makes sense I guess about the dealers

I have bad news for you.

Cliffs: pilots taking off from John Wayne have to cut power immediately after takeoff due to noise abatement regulations

My family and I are visiting family in NC for Thanksgiving. I haven’t flown/traveled in a long time at this point, and wasn’t a huge fan of it to begin with. Any special tips? Is getting to the airport two hours ahead of departure still sufficient? Flying JetBlue FWIW.

Get Clear?

I’m doing 5 days in Atlanta and 4 in Nashville next month. Meeting a friend in Atlanta who is from my hometown and trying to get custody of his kid in some redneck county and the judge is related to his baby’s momma and another high school buddy who is a folk/country musician and art teacher in Nashville.

Taking suggestions for shit to do or see.

Good tip, but kids are with us. Had never heard of that and would have otherwise totally done it.

Personally I think clear is a huge ripoff. I have it but only because I get it for free, absolutely would not pay for it, especially if you already have precheck (and I’m in the prime target demo for it, business traveler who hates getting to the airport too early). It never saves as much time as you think it does and essentially all you’re doing is trading time you would spend standing in line staring at your phone for time sitting at the gate staring at your phone.

The kids can go through with you without signing them up. We took our 13 year old. We were doing what is likely our only trip this year so we did the two week trial. It was great

Never seen a reason to get Clear when I have precheck

I don’t have pre-check so this is definitely worth a look for me. Found a link that gives you a 2-month free trial here: CLEAR : 2 Month Free Trial (includes family!)

Pre check is the greatest deal in all of deals. It’s like $90 for 5 years to save a ton of time and never have to take your shoes off at airports. You also don’t have to deal with Sheila that hasn’t flown since 1994

They need to do a pre pre check. The precheck line at SeaTac is always super long.

There are plenty of places where pre-check line is longer than non-pre-check line. However, it still moves faster, so it’s really has to be substantially longer for me to consider non-pre-check. And even then, not dealing with shoes and unpacking my liquids would be worth a little extra wait if I’m not in a hurry to catch a plane.

That’s what CLEAR is for. You cut to the front of the precheck line.
