Let’s be clear. I want to see what Primm is like more than any natural feature. Also, maybe a detour to Agua Caliente and Morongo.

If you’re gonna do the depressing casino tour, don’t miss Lucky Strike.

The highlight for me the one time I did the drive was seeing actual tumbleweeds rolling across the road.

Now we’re talking! Morongo is next to some great outlets, and the rest area with the dinosaurs from Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure is nearby. Also get a date shake at Hadley’s!

Quite a detour, btw.

That’s pretty much my actual feeling about LA/Commerce. I mostly play 20-40 to 40-80 limit hold 'em, so Commerce has a better game selection for me than the entire Las Vegas strip. Also when I’m not playing, I think LA has much more interesting stuff to do. So I’d much rather visit LA than LV for poker or anything else. It’s not even close for me.

Ive been thinking about getting a suitcase without a zipper but I was waiting on the baggage carousel and didn’t see a single suitcase like that, which might make it scream out “steal me”. I know you can still buy universal TSA keys but you could put a sticker over the lock so you’ll know if someone has peeled it off.

Ireland was amazing. I was in Dublin during the riot and the next day the Garda was racing all over the city. All you heard was sirens everywhere. Felt like a movie. I saw multiple people being arrested on the street and one guy pulled out of work from a cafe.

I’ve never met taxi drivers that nice. These guys were singing songs to us about the Dublin Zoo and giving us history lessons and telling us their life history. We needed to spend more of our time outside of Dublin but we were super jet lagged this trip. We did Wicklow, the glacier lake and the Dublin Coast.

I thought Ireland was way better than my previous UK trip and would love to move there.

Is that a trunk?

Yeah, I guess so. example

Isnt there an abandonded waterpark somewhere?

Ok, that makes sense.

Yes! I actually went there when I was a kid. Probably when I was 6 or 7 years old:

Lake Dolores Waterpark - Wikipedia.

These were super standard when I was a kid. Most of our suitcases were this design.

Like this. Nearly identical to ones that we had:

Edit: after look at all the pics looks like it this exact model is what we had.

We just take duffles everywhere we go know because checking luggage can be a pain and anything more structured than a duffle can get “pulled aside” as they try to manage overhead space. I don’t travel all that much compared to some other people, but in 2023 I flew maybe 10 times and never had any problems with luggage.

Having never been to NY in 41 years i’m going again, twice in 2 months.

Highlights from last trip:

  • Went to Gutenberg: The Musical (live show with Josh Gad and Andrew Rannel) and really liked it, so much so I went to the book of mormon the following night. Turns out broadway shows are super fun, and I’m for sure going to go to another one this trip, maybe two.
  • Walked the highline at sunset, this was so cool
  • finally found good pizza - got a good slice across from the james earl jones theatre and also some place up from the eugene onneil theatre

Also walked around Times Square and soaked in the ridiculousness, and we did a team offsite of cake construction at milk bar.

So for part 2 - shows are priority one, missed on getting a bagel so need to do that.

I’m arriving Sun 5pm, have a team dinner Mon, free Tues night and Wed night. Tenatively broadways shows Tues & Wed. Sun… Might try to find a live music show if I have the energy!

was thinking about trying to find some live piano or go see a comedy show either instead of, or after, a broadway show (or on Monday after my team dinner)

If you really enjoy shows you might also want to check out the opera at Lincoln Center. They have superscript devices on the chairbacks so you can see the translation while you watch.

I am not a NYC dweller and this is probably one of those topics that starts fights, but if smoked fish is a thing you desire it is hard to go wrong with Russ & Daughters.

On my mom’s last visit here 6 years ago I bought us tickets to the Rockettes Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall. I thought I would suffer through it in order to be a good son, but it was genuinely one of the most enjoyable shows I have ever seen. I’ve been recommending it ever since lol. One of the few tourist traps that actually lives up to billing, genuinely spectacular.
