Voted st8 ticket dem this morning. Today is the first day of early voting in texas. Arrived @ 8am and there were maybe 40 peeps in que.
Took about 50 minutes, and the elderly ladies behind me were wishing it was set up outside due to the covid.
No armed men in sight :)
Also, been waiting 4 fucking years for today, go team blue

My wife talked me out of going today. I mean there’s nothing in the world I hate more than lines, so she didn’t have to try THAT hard. We’ll go during early voting, but like a week in. Hopefully there’s still a line lol.
I worry that possibly the media blasting the long the early voting lines might actually be doing the Rs dirty work for them in demotivating people to vote.

I realize that the majority of mail in voters across the country are Dems, but I don’t quite get how this doesn’t backfire to hurt Republicans in deep red states like Texas. Surely, even most mail in votes there are Republican, no?

Depends on how motivated we can get people. I’m willing to stand in a covid infested line for two days and crawl through the doors coughing up one of my lungs on the floor if necessary to cast my vote

Imagine being some Trumpfan boomer in that line - knowing you’re getting outvoted by 20-1. Yeah they’re pretty much going to enthusiastically support fascism (if any are still on the fence) if Texas turns blue.
If Texas votes for Biden, deplorable Texans will assume that X million cheater illegal immigrant voted must have been counted because No True Texan could vote for the Dems. They will also be confident that Y million Republican votes were stolen/not counted, etc.

I’ve heard good things about State Farm Arena (Hawks) in Atlanta, too. 300 voting machines. I just hope people in Fulton County know about it and take advantage.
Well all that NBA stuff with boycotting the playoffs raised a lot of awareness. Really makes you wonder - if it’s that easy to open new polling places even in red states - why the hell weren’t Dems doing this earlier?
