I’d like to get rid of state taxes. Have a federal sales tax and replace state income taxes with an allocation from federal income taxes, which will be raised to compensate.

I have been banging the drum that the Constitution is fundamentally broken. Perhaps there are those who think that we can get a functional government with a few amendments, but I really think there is a need to make large fixes to the articles themselves, to the point where we are better off writing a new document from the ground up rather than amending the current one. This will be a traumatic experience for some Americans who have been taught that our system of government is part of what makes us exceptional. Their reaction will be a Trump-like brain explosion.
These are the basic topics that I think need to be addressed:
- the limits of government power, which I think need to be revised upward
- federalism - the balance of power between states and the national government, which I think needs to be tilted more towards the federal and away from the states
- separation of powers and the system of checks and balances, which I think needs some curtailing of the idea of a unitary executive
We should have a mace like they do in the UK.

A significant reduction in power of those in leadership positions in the legislative branch.
It’s absurd that Mitch McConnell (who over 98.5% of Americans can’t vote for or against) can just unilaterally hold up things like House passed legislation or Supreme Court nominees because he feels like it.
(Yes, I realize that the entire GOP is at fault for putting that asshole in such a position of power. But it should not even be an option.)
