The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

As someone who hates overdubs, this one was really good. It’ll take a few minutes to even realize it’s dubbed.

@staff

In honor of the US approving a stimulus package that begins with a financial feast for the people at the top and hopefully leaves a little for us plebes at the bottom, it’s a watch Party for Netflix’s THE PLATFORM!

If anyone was thinking of diving into The Wire, Jemele Hill and Van Lathan are going to be doing a re-watch for a podcast on The Ringer.

I did not get a @staff notification.

How about @admins?

I’ve been working at home, and a lot of my work is pretty mindless processing of spreadsheets essentially. So, I’ve been using the time to watch TV shows while I work that my wife wouldn’t care about and that don’t take much processing power.

First up is Community. I somehow never watched a single episode of this, ever. I’m about 5-6 episodes into season 1 and it’s… fine? Enjoyable enough to watch, but not the belly laughs that I got from, say, The Office when I first watched it. Seems to have a lot of Dan Harmon’s lessons on living life as a shitty person.

The problem with these network shows is there are just so many god damn episodes. Just seems daunting to try to go back and watch, say, Lost as someone who didn’t catch it the first time around.

Yes this. Season 1 is almost worth skipping. Season 2-3 have some of the funniest episodes of all time.

This would make a terrific daily watch event if it were only still on Netflix. One episode per day.

Holy fuck tiger king is pure entertainment

Is there any harm to animals in this show? It sounds great but I cannot stand cats getting abused because I have that cat pee brain worm in my head.

If you define having animals in cages as harmful, then yes.

I mean, are the cages too small? Cause that’s pretty cruel.

No. It’s not a factory farm.

Wat. The cages are obviously way too small.

I don’t know if anyone brought this up but these new service started by Meg Whitman and Jeffrey Katzenberg starts April 6th.

Apparently the goal is to break up shows into smaller pieces for phones. If you sign up now and pre order the free app you can get 90 days free. They have some original programming from what I can tell.

All you need to do is go to their site to sign up.

I’m not really interested in paying any more for content than I already am, particularly for new content…
