Exactly. It’s also worth noting that Roberts is pro-life and most of his lack of desire to fully overturn Roe is because he actually respects precedent. So he’s not going to be a vote to restore it if/when Dems ever pick up a seat. The precedent then will be Dobbs.
Eh, let’s not go too far ascribing noble intentions to JR. He’s been plenty willing to overturn precedent when it serves his goals; he’s just a more savvy political operator than the rest of the deplorables up there and he knows how to play the long game. He knows they’re going to hold the court til the end of time barring some popular uprising so there’s no need to rush on anything controversial that might jeopardize their project. He knows explicitly nuking Roe could pose a danger if the backlash is big enough, so he prefers to just pick it apart bit by bit until it exists in name only. Other stuff like voting rights, guns, climate stuff, he knows nobody gives enough of a shit about it to make a big enough stink to affect anything so that shit can all go out the window.

Ah, yeah. Well Roe isn’t coming back in our lifetimes anyway so no need to worry about it. We’ll all be cooking alive in our own juices from climate change by the time it would even be feasible anyway.

I am pretty confused by people’s takes about the lies in their confirmation hearing and Collins and Murkowski’s votes.
Like three number of people who actually thought they wouldn’t overturn this is mind blowing. It was so obvious. Likewise the number is people that think Collins and Murkowski were duped also blows my mind. C’mon they can’t be that stupid. They knew. They got their plausible deniability and toed the party line.
