The Presidency of the Joes, part II: lol documents

Seems much more awkward to sit upright in a chair with a kid than to lie back in a bed.

lol WTF?

I know we all just want to be happy we live in a time where two men can get married and adopt children, but they staged a photo where they took the place of the woman (women?) who just went through an agonizing birth.

Perhaps, but even then they would have had to ask for an unoccupied bed they could use. Or I guess they could tell mom to get out of bed so they could take a photo. That seems weird also.

This just seems like a “look at that bitch eating crackers” kind of situation. Seems normal to me that two gay dudes might want to recreate the kinds of family photos that we’re used to seeing traditional families post on social media.

It’s cringey. They didn’t give birth. There’s an actual patient in that hospital recovering from having her vagina stretched out to the size of a rugby ball after 9 months of gestation. Those beds are for her.

I don’t know the answer to this, because I definitely didn’t do it, but do you often (ever?) see photos after delivery where the dude actually crawls into the bed with his wife for a photo. Normally the most you get is a lean in from the side. But if that’s a thing, then I guess it makes more sense.

Fuck that I was bass fishing.

But to answer sincerely, no I’ve never seen anybody crawl into bed. I did the kneel down by the side of the bed and lean in thing that 99 percent of everybody else does.

I mean, I’m pretty sure they didn’t kick the recovering woman out of her bed so they could take the photo. Of course it’s cringey, all baby photo stuff is.

Just seems like gay couples don’t have traditions of their own yet so they’re duplicating the kinds of stuff straight couples have been doing.

I don’t think it’s a big deal or anything to get offended about. But when ZZ pointed it out I had a good laugh because it seems kind of ridiculous.

What bias would that be?

Yeah, this. I even felt a bit guilty about having the laugh.

How dare the new parents not celebrate in the preferred fashion of ZZ et al!

Just seriously awful takes.

There should be a Photoshop contest where you can place the couple and their kids in other locations.

Bump

It’s the bias of being so earnest to show how totally ok you are with a gay couple adopting children that you are willing to pretend it’s not cringey for that couple to stage a photo where they place themselves in the position of the actual woman who gave birth, and in the process feel the need to backhandedly accuse somebody else of being an intolerant bigot.

Oh bullshit. You’re just ignorant about how non-traditional birthing choices and the importance of infant bonding with new parents because you’re stuck to the idea of a traditional birth. This kind of bias literally affects me personally even, but thanks bud you really know me well. The ludicrous virtue signaling callout is RWNJ style nonsense.

I don’t recall ZZ being one of the Pete haters here. Me neither, for that matter. Sometimes it’s ok to laugh at something that’s patently ridiculous.

I don’t really care about the photo. It’s a bit odd when you think about it, but who cares. But I’m more curious about the ‘how’.

“Hey, do you have a spare room/bed that we can use for some photos?” is a request I’d feel really awkward making even I wanted to do that. I guess things are different for Pete.

I mean this is likely true. Those of us who don’t like Pete understand how unbelievably fake he is, so that factors into the hilarity of the picture. If it was a genuine person who wasn’t known for being fake as hell I’d give them the benefit of the doubt with that picture.

So I’m not hating, but it is hilarious with context.
