The Presidency of the Joes: more like INFRASTRUCTURE WEAK

Good strategy - Biden will concede on a few things like banning abortion and providing tanks to the police but don’t worry because down the line … things will happen!

It’s been a week and a half. I’m not quite ready to start micro-managing Biden yet.

Time to tune out of politics for a while for my sanity.

meeting has little downside and commits you to nothing. I know y’all want to, but flipping two birds at everyone while spitting hot twitter fire isn’t likely to maximize success

Some of you guys are just as bad as Trump supporters. Seriously.

I think the funniest part of this post is that you were the one to make it.

biden is inviting top republican leadership so the military can arrest them and put them on trial on television to expose them for their crimes. all tv channels will be taken over and internet stopped while marshall law is declared

Should any of the following actually exist, add the good and novel parts to the counteroffer to the existing bill and make them vote against it. If they don’t, yes, a hearty “fuck you, no” and put it up for vote via reconciliation, shitting all over what the Parliamentarian says.

It’s so cute you all think it’s just theater. After everything that’s happened. Unbelievable.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. So, let’s go ahead and keep involved. Nah, just kidding. Game ended in the late 90s. We’re just running out the clock.

The media is a huge problem, so Democratic strategy should involve steps to wean them away from the framework of bothsidesism. In the past, Dems have relied on the idea that Republicans being bad is self-evident. That diplomatic approach is clearly not working and Democrats need to encourage a more militant mindset where they act as if politics is zero-sum, where we benefit when the Republican electorate suffers.

I think people whining that the media needs to do its job are part of the problem, because they are acting as if a non-partisan media is possible. I feel that is the same thing as insisting that bipartisan politics are possible as a regular course of business. Not likely anytime soon. We should assume that the natural state of politics is a hyper-partisan struggle and anyone who wishes it were otherwise is a naïve fool. “Fair and balanced” is a mythical construct that does not exist in the real world.

Asking the media to take a neutral role because we assume that this favors us because facts have a liberal bias is wrong. We should be asking the media to be biased as hell in our direction.

If we don’t declare war on the media, then we have to work within the optics of bothsidesism, if we want to have any chance at favorable coverage.

Reagan is the real culprit here. It was always gonna eventually be gg once he easily own two terms and completely transformed one of the two major political parties and forced the other one to completely change as well.

I would like the record to reflect that I am definitely not part of “you all”.

Trump is the outlier. It’s normal for a sitting POTUS to meet with both parties, especially at the beginning of a term.

normally I’d be against military tribunals and marshall law but I think the country really needs to come together in the name of unity to support president biden’s agenda and give it a chance to work before criticizing him.

Thing is - bipartisanism (though still low then) was absurdly more common than now. Things aren’t going back to 2012 let alone the 70s/80s post-Trump.

He’s literally not going to get a single R vote in either house for anything. This charade just creates delay and pisses off the base (has he met with progressives to explain why there are no actual $2k checks, no).

The idea that bipartisanship is a good thing when the other side won’t even admit you won is fucking absurd.

He got some for cabinet confirmations.

Biden is totally hopeless it seems.

He gave Republican assholes the UNITY word garrote with which they immediately went to work to strangle everything with. And here we are. Invite the assholes to tea and cookies, so they can then make a couple more twists of the rope.

Joe, you fucking absolute fucking sucker!

Also an illegal bombing campaign that dropped more explosive power than was dropped by Allies in all of WW2.

One thing I’m not quite clear on is how the MAGA derper on the ground processes all this. If I’m so poor, white, unemployable boomer in rural OH and I’m hearing that Biden wants to give me big check, and my team is trying to stop it. Why the fuck am I not switching teams?

I realize that much has been written on this subject, but it still boggles my mind. Especially with regard to this specific issue (COVID stimulus). I’ve heard rationalizations for all sorts of policies against their own interest, but not this one specifically.

At this point my working theory is that they’re just so low info that they have no idea what is going on. And if you asked, they would probably believe that GOP wanted to give them the money and Biden was the obstacle. But maybe it’s something else.
