The Presidency of the Joes: more like INFRASTRUCTURE WEAK

I just don’t know why anyone thinks this would make any difference to what happens in the senate.

Who exactly “bails out” a hedge fund?

Why the hell would they not do this

Is it actually possible Manchin just sincerely holds political beliefs we don’t like? If he were purely a political animal he would not say this in a Trump +40 state.

Harry Reid invoked a partial nuclear option for presidential appointments, so you can’t really filibuster a Cabinet nomination and it’s just a matter of how much the majority is willing to humor you.

I think they need to proceed with the impeachment regardless, but I’d be curious to see how many Republicans would sign on to a censure. Like a wrist slap. Not many I would guess. Maybe they can propose naming him “Man of the Year”.

Can someone with access to WaPo tell me who the three economists are?

Bailed out of what. Hedge funds provide zero value and are just unnecessary middle men siphoning off the money of others.

Yeah but most of them will be dead soon and they don’t care that much for their kids or grand kids, so if it’s GG democracy, it doesn’t actually impact them in their remaining few years.

I think Manchin is a believer. But he doesn’t believe in progressivism which means he is of little use to get anything under that umbrella accomplished.

Still, progressive activist groups and liberal lawmakers have largely responded to Mr. Biden’s position with more of a shrug than a rallying cry. In interviews, several leaders said it was too soon to push for eliminating the filibuster. They also maintained that Mr. Biden would change his thinking once his promise to “Build Back Better” faced the full reality of congressional partisanship.

Brian Fallon, the former press secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, said most activists had expected initial opposition from Mr. Biden and baked it into their strategies. He predicted that Democrats would tie an eventual all-out push on eliminating the filibuster to a widely supported bill rather than tackle the issue in a vacuum. And for certain senators — and the president — it’s important that elimination of the filibuster be seen as a last resort.

It’s unfulfilling, but this is probably the pragmatic approach to maximizing the probability of ever removing the filibuster. Democrats in Congress need to push bills that Manchin wants and Republicans will filibuster. Whether they are hugely popular nationwide is irrelevant.

eh, he said it to CNN

get back to me what he says when he’s on FOX

If ivanka Trump becomes a FL Senator before Wendy Graham, that might actually make me leave the state.

And yet people think he would switch parties and win a republican primary

last redistricting they wanted to go independent commission, but republicans reneged on the deal, and the case/map ended up being drawn by a court-appointed former judge. it is a lock that if Dems draw the maps, it will go to state Supreme court again.

eh, scratch that, it will go state supreme court anyway

Every time I open my Twitter one of the four horsemen of Texas idiocy top my feed.

This shit didn’t happen under Trump.

Sorry, who dis?

This is a bad sign, imo. You don’t need a commission to reform the S court, the problems are clear, and the universe of solutions is limited. Just make a choice and champion a solution yourself. A commission is just cover, like keeping the filibuster, for these assholes to look like they are doing something while actually doing nothing
