The Presidency of the Joes: more like INFRASTRUCTURE WEAK

Even with all the eDem bullshit and political malpractice, just imagine if we hadn’t won GA.

Or if Trump had just shipped checks before the election to lock up the win.

Everyone itt seems convinced people vote based on getting or not getting money from the government.

Serious question, is there any evidence this is actually true?

People vote based upon their perception of whether their material conditions are being improved by the politicians in charge. $2k checks with DJT’s signature on them for everybody>>>$1.4k maybe for some people. Even low info people can figure that math out.

Elections are about turning out your voters(See: 08, 10, 12, 16, 18, 20). Accomplishing nothing but a watered down stimulus bill while bombing the ME and opening up more and more concentration camps doesn’t bode well for Dem turnout in 22.

It’s hopeless on multiple levels. I have to stop paying attention to this shit.

It’s hopeless if we believe that the politicians and captains of industry who do the imperialism overseas will be the ones to save us from that same fate here at home.

Hopefulness comes from mutual aid, labor organizing, and helping our communities understand that capitalism will eventually sacrifice them, their kids, and our ecology in the pursuit of profits.

I so badly wish I could stop paying attention to it all. My quality of life would certainly improve. The problem is that Trump activated an army of idiots that pay attention to all of the right wing propaganda so I feel like I need to pay attention so that I can stay a step ahead of them, of that makes sense. The right wing propaganda seeps into the mainstream often enough that I like to be able to shoot it down instantly from an educated position.

Nothing matters. Same as it ever was.

He still wins re-election with ease.

I mean Gym Jordan is obviously a fos hypocrite but Biden hasn’t held a solo press conference this entire time. He’s clearly a doddering idiot being spoonfed information by the people who are actually running the country. So that isn’t very fun

As far as I can tell this just isn’t true, or at best is hotly contested among political scientists. Can you cite some research backing this up?

From my reading voters choice is largely driven by people’s existing affiliation, their perceptions of the candidate and the party. Self-interest is not a strong driving factor and I can’t find any evidence getting short term benefits has a huge impact on voter behaviour.

This might be one of those things that seems intuitively true but isn’t. People regularly vote against their economic self-interest.

I think we get stuck in our bubble sometimes.

Here is what people said mattered to them in last election. Unfortunately, few care about bombing the ME other than under the generic category of foreign policy.

As for the stimulus package

It is widely popular

But so is means testing (60%)

Such a democrat thing for them to do.

On something else I want to call out the media on how they reported on the senate vote to debate. Pretty much every outlet reported the vote in a murky way that might make people think it passed in the senate.

It’s only a limit on drone strikes outside of our current war zones while they review it. So Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq are still lucky to qualify for unlimited strikes

But they did do this review and the country who has a defense budget that is less than half my cities police budget is an extreme threat so I’m going guess the “reviews” they do aren’t always worthwhile

So Venezuela is a failed state where the complete lack of resources and the abject conditions of its citizens is a dire warning against any form of socialism, and in addition a direct international threat to the national security of the most powerful country in the world. At the same time.

The filibuster helps democrats and hurts republicans from a strictly game theory perspective. The senate has a structural republican advantage. I recognize that getting rid of the filibuster right now could help fix that structural disadvantage, but why wouldn’t the republicans want to get rid of it when they’re next in power? I expect to see it fall when they get unified control of government again.

Anyone got Rasmussen handy?
