People probably assume he’s a Trumper given that he’s outspoken about his Catholicism.
Guess he got sick of it after a while.
His comedy is also very much about crass Americanism (fast food, ignorance of other cultures) but in a self deprecating way. I’m sure that alot of Trumpy suburban types would feel like he is one of them, because they also are lily white, overweight, love fast food, and talk loudly and slowly at foreigners when they need help finding a Pizza Hut in Paris.

It seems like the right is taking the side of both the police and the vigilantes who show up at demonstrations. That raises the question of who they will side with if and when the police decide to confront the vigilantes. And of course, the pressure is going to quickly mount on them to do so. If they don’t, it gives the appearance that the cops are in cahoots with white nationalist militia, and that’s not a good look in these times. So what does Tucker Carlson say when the cops attempt to disarm the vigilantes and the vigilantes respond by shooting them?
The cops are 100% on the side of the vigilantes. They are giving them water and free passage all over the country.

Yeah I know. But for how long? As that directly feeds into the narrative that the cops are racist, especially when its obvious that the vigilantes are white supremacists.

There will be no confrontation between the police and white vigilantes. They play squash on Wednesday night. The barbecue together on holidays. They attend each other’s children birthday parties. They are family.
They view that rittenblah kid as their nephew who just got in a tough spot.
They are united against a common enemy which they believes threatens their way of life. When push comes to shove they will stand shoulder to shoulder, arms interlocked.
