You either “buy to open” or “buy to close”.
There are many options strategies out there and some are very complex. But whether one is opening or closing a position will be obvious with bank records.

lol i didn’t think i was gonna laugh at all. a lot of it elicits smiles, sure, but not laughter. but 2:40 when he’s at that al smith dinner, i break before he even got to any of the jokes. “i want to thank your eminence, this is really great to be with you again” and i lost it
