The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Unconstitutional Slop

I’m sober. Resentments will kill me imo. So I’ve stopped resenting these people. But I do hope they die, because if they do many other lives will be saved.

Sensenbrenner has to be not only dumb but a completely disgusting specimen of a human as well. I don’t get how someone like that becomes a congresscritter.

I mean ffs his glasses are broken in this photo.

Still like 100 posts behind…

Yeah this has been my concern from the start. I have a handful of nightmare scenarios in my mind that Barr could trigger in October-December, and they all lead to Trump for life.

A huge percentage of the country thinks he’s a standard AG doing standard AG things and this is all politics as usual. He benefits immensely from keeping up that ruse for as many as possible as long as possible.

They don’t get it because for many of them their job depends on their not getting it. Nothing borderline about it.

It blows my mind that this is all done like individually. The Democrats on the committee should have a meeting like a week out to begin game planning, then another a couple days out. They should decide what areas they want to get into, split it up, plan the order they’ll question in, etc. They should know what the priorities are, so if someone runs out of time in an important area the next person picks it up. They should be willing to yield time to the best interrogators. There should be an understanding that they’ll get less grandstanding time for their campaign ads but that there will be efforts made to help them in their next election if they need it, for being part of the team.

Instead they team up and circle the wagons around the wealthy and corporate interests. Then when a big hearing happens they’re the goddamn Bad News Bears.

Just off the top of my head, I didn’t watch any of it.

Open: “Mr. Attorney General, thank you for appearing. I have a few very basic yes or no questions, they’re trivial really, but just to be clear… Is it okay to lie to Congress? What should happen to any Attorney General who knowingly lies to Congress? Would it be fitting to impeach and remove such an Attorney General who knowingly lied to Congress? Does the Attorney General have to be fair to all citizens under the law and free of bias? If not, are they fit for office?”

If he’s wishy-washy he looks like a jackass, if he’s not you’ve filed that way… “Okay, now for the real questions.”

  1. Is there a problem with racism on police forces in America?

He’s going to say no. But if he says yes, “And what are you doing about it?” and then hit him for how they like disbanded some of the civil justice stuff going on at DOJ. But he’s going to say no.

  1. Okay, in your view what is an acceptable level of racism on police forces in America?

Checkmate…

  1. IF HE SAYS NONE (which he should): you start hitting him with examples and the FBI report on white supremacists infiltrating the police. “Mr. Attorney General, your own FBI says there’s a problem…” You ask him if he’d like to amend his answer to #1. If he says no you just fucking hammer him case by case until your five minutes are up. “XYZ happened in Place A. Racist? Yes or no?” If he says he’d like to amend it, you then ask him. “Mr. Attorney General you’re the highest ranking law enforcement official in America. A moment ago, as you admit, you were wrong. Were you lying to the Congress of the United States or are you incompetent?”

IF HE SAYS SOME: You pause, you blink a few times. “Mr. Attorney General, to be clear, did you just say that there is an acceptable amount of racism on police forces in the United States in the year 2020?”

  1. At this point he’s either admitted that he lied to Congress, is unfit for office, or is biased on racial issues - all of which you got him to “trivially” say would make an AG unfit. “Mr. Attorney General, by your own standards that you laid out about three minutes ago, you are unfit for office. When will you be resigning?”

Mic drop. Yield the remainder of your time. Or in this case since all of your colleagues are incompetent, start in on another area.

They grab the best 15 or 30 seconds and put them on social media and in fundraising e-mails.

Support their primary challengers, then vote for whoever wins. Keep doing this until the AOC-wing of the party is strong enough to leverage the size of the progressive caucus.

It’s possible that non-lethal force is more often used against black people than white people, insofar as force is more often used against black people than white people. Dunno what the fuck the first part is supposed to mean.

Trump wildly exaggerates his golf game, but he would kick Obama’s ass. Obama’s swing is better than Charles Barkley’s, but bears some resemblance. He gets to the top of the back swing and kind of lunges and lurches forward.

For some reason, Pennsylvania has not shifted as far toward Biden as most other swing states. I find it really odd. I think a lot of it has to do with the Philadelphia suburbs. I think a lot of the upper class white men are comfortable trading away everything for some extra money in their pockets. I know of a few who “hate” Trump but were prepared to vote for him over most of the Democratic primary based on taxes and healthcare.

There was a story 1-2 days ago about Trump pulling ads from MI.

https://twitter.com/tedlieu/status/1288594876666269696?s=20

We know Trump is incompetent and most of his minions are grifters. There was a Politico story about a conflict between the house GOP and RNC because Trump wasn’t releasing funds for house races so he could use them himself. As with Covid, this may be an area where Trump’s greed, incompetence, and wishful thinking has a material impact. Probably every campaign dollar Trump has is effectively worth $0.50. Apparently tons was wasted on the GOP convention, which is also causing friction.

FYI, Fox News (A- rating) had PA +11 Biden 1 week ago, and Morning Consult (B/C rating) had PA +8 Biden 3 days ago. None of these polls or polls of polls are ever going to give a consistent +12 Biden for the next 3 months, so it’s going to be a sweat until election day (and maybe the day(s) after election day), and that’s probably a good thing because people need to vote as if it’s close.

Barr grew up the son of a headmaster of a private school and is performatively “smart”. Nothing I’ve seen in his legal work, from his infamous memo to how he handled Muller and related shenanigans, indicates to me that he’s smarter than a rank average lawyer, which isn’t particularly smart. He made millions as GC for Verizon.

I knew a guy as a senior associate who made it to head litigation partner at a big name, prestigious law firm. His chief asset was that he competent, worked hard, and billed a lot of hours. He was not notably intelligent. In some ways he reminds of Kavanaugh, minus the self pity.
