One of the biggest lessons of the Trump presidency for me is that you can do pretty much anything in business and not receive meaningful punishment.
Tax cheating has to be absolutely rampant. Why wouldn’t you cheat? If you get caught you just hire lawyers and eventually negotiate a payment of a fraction of what you stole.
Kill hundreds of thousands of people with a deadly drug you falsely marketed? Give back most of the money, keep a few billion for yourself.
Look at all the shit Manafort got caught doing ONLY because he was stupid enough to work for Trump! There have to be so many guys just like him.

I mean, it’s a show to most politicians, and regular citizens, for that matter. All politics is for us. The debates are, protests, resistance on social media.

I read it as he didn’t want to talk to President Z and was pressured into taking the call. He didn’t want the call until the deliverable was done, but they made him take it anyway so he then asked for a favor since his middlemen weren’t getting it done.

Allen Weisselberg had bought a condo from Trump in one of his buildings for a below-market price of $152,500 in 2000. He deeded it to Jack three years later for about $148,000. Jack sold the unit for more than three times as much in 2006.
