Look I like Bernie a lot. He was the main reason I got excited about politics during the last election cycle after being apathetic for a long time, so I doubt youāre much younger than me. Iād be more than happy with him in the White House period.
However, handwaving the age difference is idiotic and youāre deluding yourself. Statistically speaking if he was born today heās already on borrowed time. At his age a minor heart attack is still a fucking heart attack. No one doubts his competency but itās a simple fact that if heās elected and wins a second term heās more likely to be dead than in the WH in 8 years.
Heāll be attacked on his age, heāll be attacked on his health and heāll be attacked on being a crazy idealistic socialist. Do I wish we could press a button and implement a lot of his ideas? Absolutely. Is it realistic? Not really.
Overall I think Liz brings a lot of these same qualities to the table without the aforementioned weaknesses. She appears to have a more pragmatic approach to her policies and wants to get things done one step at a time instead of just yelling out of a bullhorn to change everything immediately.

Lame duck Trump is an absolute nightmare scenario. Even by current standards. Absolutely anything could happen.

Seems like a pretty easy olive branch to Trump. Donāt call it impeachment, tell him we are promoting him to be Supreme Emperor of Asteroid M. Carve his name in the side of the rock and he will be there before a big Mac dinner.

This isnāt the forum to debate 2020 candidates. I know someone 33 who dropped dead in her work parking lot from an aneurysm. Someone in their 50s who keeled in the middle of a busy street from a massive coronary. And someone in her 90s who still works 5 days a week harder than Trump does
And what part are you missing about running mate? We should be voting on policies and agendas for the American people. If odds of dying in office is your primary concern then I assume youāll be pulling the lever for Mayor Pete?

I think the heart attack is going to ruin Bernieās chances and his age and health might be a tiny concern, but yeah, dying in office isnāt the worst thing and heart trouble is not going to affect the country like brain trouble. Iād probably put Jimmy Carter as #3 in this field right now at his age.

Despite being 43 years younger than Warren, Buttigieg only has an extra 26.9 years of life expectancy.
Bernie meanwhile has under 10 years, and thatās not taking into account a heart attack

VP is meaningless in the scheme of things except to trick uninformed voters in the VPās home state. I am definitely an ageist when it comes to presidential candidates. I think 70 is too old. I wish there were a viable younger alternative.
However the difference between Warrenās age and Bernieās is vast. I wouldnāt want Ruth Badger Ginsburg to run either. Pointing out anecdotal age stories is meaningless when we are dealing with real probabilities.
I would support Bernie over Trump but I donāt want him to get the nomination because of his age.

Thatās a shame because I think even if he didnāt survive his 1st year in office, just winning the election will be enough to energize the people and show the elites their time is up
