Even among the small proportion of GOP voters who aren’t caught up in shit like Benghazi, when it comes down to it, they still prefer Trump to even a moderate Dem. They are just awful people.
Trumpkin voters are the downline. The people running the MLM are the GOP politicians. They are very much aware that it’s all just a scam. Trump is terrible for their personal power and the long term prospects for the scam as an ongoing business enterprise.
The entire thing absolutely hinges on the other side not turning out like the people who have fallen for the scam. That’s just level one of how he’s hurt them. Level two is that he’s hijacked the scam and is driving it the wrong way down the highway. Since the rest of us are in cars headed the opposite direction down that highway this doesn’t feel like a good thing… but in the long run it probably is.
This country absolutely needs to wake up to the fact that the GOP isn’t a real political party. It doesn’t have any actual policy objectives besides directly benefiting its investors at the expense of the downline (and everyone else by extension). Donald Trump is making that incredibly obvious. The older people who have been in the scam since they were kids aren’t going to magically switch sides because the level of cognitive dissonance that would trigger might actually cause them to have a stroke, but the total number of new recruits is at multidecade lows and the average age of a scam victim is definitely >50.
The long term viability of the current GOP as a political party is simply nonexistant. Their numbers were already terrible with younger voters and have gotten massively worse under Trump. They’ve managed to stay viable this long through rampant cheating, but even that has a shelf life. This grift has an expiration date, which might explain why they seem to be doing more and more extreme stuff on behalf of their donors these days. It’s a going out of business sale.
From what has been reported, Trump made this decision with very little, if any lead-time to the military and without their input. You can hate tablecloths as much as anyone but you still don’t applaud the guy who just ripped it off the table breaking all the dishes. This was about the worst way to get troops out of the region.
I’m not trying to be an asshole here, but why do you think that? I used to feel the same way but I don’t think I’ve ever seen any evidence to think that’s the case.
Like I don’t think your average GOP congressperson is particularly smart, and even if they are lots of smart people believe crazy GOP things.
To whatever extent they are aware it’s a “scam”, I think they support it largely because they agree with the underlying messaging.
This is truly shocking because I always assumed Trump had gay pics of Linzee or whatever. For him to act this way without being blackmailed makes me think even less of him, which I didn’t think was possible.
“Keep moving, people, nothing to see here …” Brad Freden, the State Department’s acting deputy assistant secretary overseeing issues in Europe and Eurasia, wrote in a Sept. 12 email obtained by The New York Times.
He said the National Security Council would not publicly announce that $141 million in State Department assistance was being restored after being held up in what the White House described as a normal review.
I’m not sure what you mean. Lindsay is a Russia hawk, which is one of the reasons he was buddies with McCain. Lindsay has actual views and takes foreign policy seriously, which is one of the reasons he’s been kissing Trump’s ass (the other reason being that it’s in his best interest). I could definitely see Lindsay voting to impeach. He’s probably personally given Kurdish leaders his word that the US would support them.
GOP’s religious voters want to stop everybody else from having fun gambling and doing drugs, like wtf if your religion says not to do it don’t do it I’m not in your religion. I hope a real leftist comes in soon to destroy Christmas and whatever else they like. Make the eucharist go through a thorough FDA review or something idk
I don’t think it’s possible for the same party that produced this report to snap switch to Trumpism and not know exactly what they are doing.
Understand that the lobbyists and corporate interests are the main feeding grounds these guys come from… and internally they are very reality based. Everything is focus grouped to death. I don’t believe in pastors of megachurches who believe in god either.
Remember that the modern GOP was largely shaped by the Koch Brothers… and they are serious about their libertarianism, but everything else about their politics is 1000% based on it being good marketing. They don’t care at all about anything other than a very small group of core principals and everything else is about what will galvanize the downline to come out and vote in max numbers without simultaneously triggering a turnout surge on the other side.
Make the eucharist go through fda review, defund the fda unit reviewing it, and after several years publicly reveal it’s just crackers with no transubstantiation at all
LOL no. He said that he would destroy Turkey’s economy if they did anything that pissed him off. That means fucking with Trump tower Istanbul not bombing the Kurds lol.
I think there’s a chance that it goes… Impeached → acquitted by Senate but a majority of Senators (so 4+ Republicans) vote to convict → Another flurry of GOP congressional retirements → Landslide election (if it’s remotely fair/free) → Mitch begging Nancy to impeach him on a fast track a few days after the election in Nov 2020.
I think once he loses, the GOP will be desperate to cut ties with him and get on the record against him. They’ll want to look reasonable and moderate. The problem is, Dems may have to let them… Because ~2.5 months of a lame duck Trump is a fucking nightmare scenario. Nancy won’t, of course, but she should force them into some major concessions to be allowed to get that olive branch… Like public admissions of how fucking corrupted they were, how they were knowingly pushing bullshit to defend him, etc…
But she’ll probably just hold hands with Mitch and declare a victory for good old fashioned moderate bipartisanship with reasonable Mitch, and commend the Grand Old Party on being such a bastion of American freedom and democracy.
