It’s a good move strategically in the climate we’re in. It gives Fox News something to give 60% of its airtime to every night, and CNN.com had it as their top headline earlier today. It’s chewing up some of the media attention that would otherwise be on impeachment. Between that and Biden, they can try to spin this into “Everyone is dirty, who can be sure who is really the worst?”
“The fact is that President Trump and this Administration have done nothing wrong,” the statement continued. “Why would we need to implement a strategy to explain the contents of a document we willingly released? Sounds to me like more anonymous troublemakers working to stir the pot for their own selfish reasons.”
This is some 3rd Reich and Chernobyl propaganda bullshit. It’s scary 40% of the country will read this and think it’s true.
Nobody in their right mind is going to want the job. Anyone who takes it will spend thousands, if not 10s of thousands, on lawyers, because they’re a near lock to get subpoenaed by Congress. Almost every conversation they have in the White House will expose them to questioning. They’ll spend their entire time in the West Wing trying to defend against an impeachment probe in which POTUS did it and tried to cover it up, and virtually no policy will get done.
So the only remotely competent people who would consider it are already in the West Wing and subject to all of that… but then again, how many remotely competent people do they have?
If he fires Mulvaney he’s either going to end up going without a Chief of Staff or with like Kushner as his CoS… Either way it’s probably going to make things even more chaotic.
