The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: ORANGE Gettin' PEACHed, Nation Goes BANANAS

Hay guise I’ve been away for a week did anything happen?

This is what I was saying about how it was amazing that elites weren’t mobilising to protect their own power. Apparently they’ve only just realised they have a serious problem here.

I was curious how they’d report on blowing the whistleblower’s anonymity abroad and in response to criticism of themselves.

First, their discussion with the whisteblower’s lawyers.

Lawyers for the whistle-blower refused to confirm that he worked for the C.I.A. and said that publishing information about him was dangerous.
“Any decision to report any perceived identifying information of the whistle-blower is deeply concerning and reckless, as it can place the individual in harm’s way,” said Andrew Bakaj, his lead counsel. “The whistle-blower has a right to anonymity.”

And then NYT comments on its own disclosures about the whistleblower.

Dean Baquet, the executive editor of The New York Times, said The Times was right to publish information about the whistle-blower. “The president and some of his supporters have attacked the credibility of the whistle-blower, who has presented information that has touched off a landmark impeachment proceeding,” Mr. Baquet said. “The president himself has called the whistle-blower’s account a ‘political hack job.’”

Mr. Baquet added, “We decided to publish limited information about the whistle-blower — including the fact that he works for a nonpolitical agency and that his complaint is based on an intimate knowledge and understanding of the White House — because we wanted to provide information to readers that allows them to make their own judgments about whether or not he is credible. We also understand that the White House already knew he was a C.I.A. officer.”

Yea I mean, Trump threw Rudy, Pence, and Barr under the same proverbial bus.

Like, how did these clowns not see this coming after what happened to Manafort and Cohen?

The funny part about all this is Trump is draining the swamp. Just not in the way people thought it would happen.

There is always someone else who thinks they will be an exception.

if the white house already knew what they printed, why not print it? trump was saying this guy was political, printing this proves the guy was there from a nonpolitical institution for a nonpolitical purpose

LOL can you imagine if Rudy had been Trump’s VP?

I have no words. What a disgusting display of being a normal every day human.

Looks like a bad Stevie Wonder impression.

Liz should do a selfie day in the oval office in a tan suit with her feet on the desk while serving a hip hop bbq. On her very first day as Supreme Leader of the Communist States of America.

Again, very little precedent, but the constitution also says that the president appoints a Supreme Court justice with the advice and consent of the senate. The section on impeachment is very sparse on details giving a lot of lattitude to the senate. I just find it highly unlikely that the Supreme Court intercedes in this. I don’t think this is a 5-4 thing either. That said, the political calculus may still cause there to be a trial, but it’s not a foregone conclusion.

This coward should know
