I dunno. But this seems like a tough spin for Republicans. There’s no doubt he’s trying to go to a foreign country to dig up dirt on a political opponent. How do you spin that as being “not that bad”?

Possibly they think because it doesn’t seem to mention the aid or connect it to talking with Barr or Giuliani, then it refutes the allegation that the investigation was linked to that?
God knows why they think that means it’s fine, but that’s all I can come up with.
Zelenskyy seems sharp, though. He tells Trump he’s great and that they admire him right off the bat, then says he wants to buy more weapons. It’s like “How To Manipulate Trump 101” for any other passing world leaders.
FWIW, the “transcript” is actually a memorandum of the call and not an actual verbatim transcript.
I had to triple-check the URL because I couldn’t believe that was real. Trump is just beyond parody.
There is no talk of quid pro quo in that transcript and I guess that’s what the spin is going to be.
