It’s amazing to me that the Democrats haven’t actually tried and succeeded at infiltrating this administration. Like, if this forum put its mind to it, we could probably get a poster hired into the West Wing as a Trojan horse of sorts.

I’m old and wouldn’t mind doing something and going “PSYCHE!!!”, but the problem is you’d have to amass a body of pro-Trump posts, tweets, ass-kissing, organizing etc… It wouldn’t be hard, but it would be very distasteful and if you didn’t get in the admin you’d have just spent however long supporting Trump for nothing.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but Trump’s inability to handle any criticism of any kind is his weakness. Think it was Gary Hart who was among the first to complain how the press was treating politics as sport and celebrity, and how dangerous that would be if left unchecked. Orange is the personification of this warning.
Agree that celebrity can (and often does) enable bad behavior. But as you state, what seems more problematic are the systems in place that allow these know nothings to elevate to positions where they can do real damage. It’s rarely one thing that brings down an airplane, but an entire series of unfortunate events in just the right order. And when the motivations of hollywood, a political party, and a foreign power all become aligned I’m just not sure how it can be stopped.
