Man I remember 92 and how most of the guys in my platoon could not WAIT to vote for Clinton over Bush. Most had been to the desert maybe that was why
Maybe Iâm just old fashioned, but throwing out a bombshell report like this based on one anonymous leaker is pretty irresponsible journalism. That dude needs to watch All The Presidentâs men.
Oh FFS.
The Trumpâs compromised by russia shot landed like a NK missile. Now itâs just beating a dead horse.
Eh I donât know. There are lots of veterans running as Dems for 2020. Weâll see what happens.
Meanwhile Trump and Fox lie with impunity 100s of times a day and nothing happens⌠ever.
I hope itâs not old-fashioned. In fact, we know that people have tried to bait journalists (including some on his own network) into reporting false stories by giving them fake documents/bad leaks/etc., youâd think basic self-preservation instincts should make you pump the brakes before running with something like that.
Hope Lawrence doesnât blame the hammers on this fuck up
Iâm beyond pissed about this. He knows better. And his contract is up for renewal soon
People report incorrect news all the time in newspapers, and elsewhere. You either retract, soften the language, or ignore it. Shortly after the election Lawrenceâs ratings werenât good and they were very seriously considering dumping him. They renewed him, and heâs now easily the second best host on MSNBC behind Rachel right now. He also has the second highest ratings. Heâll get a slap on the wrist (having to own the sloppy judgment in running with something he knows he shouldnât have as a âbreaking newsâ segment) and that should be that.
The odd thing is that he never tries to scoop anyone, so I donât know why he thought that would be a good idea. The other thing to say is that there are many people on that show who could have stopped him from going with it, but they all apparently thought it was legit enough to go.
What I will say is what if the report is just inaccurate? What if Donald Trump signed his contract by himself, and then DB brought in a Guarantor that could be, you know, a Russian oligarch? A Guarantor is apparently the equivalent of a co-signer, so while the language Lawrence used is probably wrong itâs quite possible the report is still largely accurate. That seems very plausible to me if he trusts his source enough to have run with it.
I agree with all of that, but we have to be better than they and when we arenât itâs much worse for us. It shouldnât be that way, but it is.
This feeds the FAKE NEWS narrative. It lights a legitimately good punditâs credibility on fire. Worst of all, it establishes the appearance that political officials can get a retraction by siccing their attorneys on journalists and get what they want, causing the journalists to hesitate on publishing newsworthy stories out of fear of legal reprisals. Itâs a huge cluster fuck.
The good news is that the false alarm will be forgotten quite fast, the reputation damage is relatively small here. My gripe is I had an âit movedâ moment when I saw the tweet and âitâ really should know better at this point.
Off course itâs true
Nah, I donât think this will be a big deal. No matter what anyone tells you, Trump is afraid of Lawrence. Lawrence wants him to sue him. Itâs a sloppy but relatively honest mistake that occasionally happens. If he had let this go a week or a month, it would be worse. He essentially said âwhy did I do that?â before his broadcast was even over. He did a good job with handling this mistake, in my opinion.

Wait what? He has 44 followers
He keeps a low profile? I guess I could be wrong. Other than hating Trump, he posts on energy, including nuclear including cold fusion. Those are topics the actual Carl Page has a strong interest in.
