The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: ORANGE Gettin' PEACHed, Nation Goes BANANAS

not that it matters but trump never called Baltimore “drug infested”

this was the infested part of his tweets “Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”

I’ve a got former co-worker that was JAG who is beside himself on the Facebook about this outburst. Dude has normally carried weight as a Republican for Trump so some things are still moving the needle for some people.

Have you ever just once stood back from your posting and thought ‘maybe I’m being disingenuous here?’

If I were a court (and I’m not even a lawyer and am on their side), I wouldn’t give his argument any additional legal weight without the opening of an official impeachment inquiry. The court may very well rule in their favor on the semantics, but until an official impeachment inquiry happens, they can’t use that in their reasoning to get the courts out of the way. They’ve bent over backwards to avoid using the words ‘official impeachment inquiry’, therefore we’re not in one.

‘Same thing’ is not a legal argument.

so the idea is they could vote to replace nancy pelosi as speaker with like al green? and then vote on impeachment? with only 1/4 of the house on board?

ok

With the second night of the Democratic debates a couple of hours away, immigrant rights protestors have blocked traffic at an international crossing between Detroit and Canada.

In a press release, Carlos Rojas, a spokesperson for the advocacy group Cosecha, said: “A vague commitment to support immigration reform is an empty promise that we cannot accept…We need to know that candidates are serious about solving the daily crisis undocumented workers and families have been facing for decades, and that means putting an immediate end to all detention and deportation on their first day in office”

:o: BREAKING: Michigan immigrants & allies are blocking the international tunnel to Canada, right outside the debate in Detroit. They are demanding that candidates commit to ending all detention and deportation on day 1.

The Senate confirmed Kelly Craft to serve as Trump’s ambassador to the UN. Craft succeeds Nikki Haley, who announced her resignation in October.

Craft came under fire earlier this year for spending more than half her time as ambassador to Canada absent from her post. During her confirmation process Democrats expressed concerns at her family’s investments in the fossil fuel industry; Craft is married to Joseph Kraft, a billionaire coal magnate from Kentucky. After initially saying in an interview that she appreciates “ both sides of the science” on climate change, she acknowledged during her confirmation hearing that global heating was driven by human activity. However, she rejected the idea of the US re-entering the Paris climate agreement.

I wouldn’t want to buck over half my Caucus, especially when the reason she’s claiming she’s not doing anything is to protect seats of vulnerable people (several of those, maybe 10ish, have now come out in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry this week). She loses her standing daily, when vulnerable Congresspeople are saying it’s time to do their Constitutional duty. Both people who came out today voted Yay on tabling the Al Green resolution.

I’m confident 150 (~34 more) are on the cusp of going on the record, based on the fact that probably over 60 percent of the people coming out on the record are people who voted Yay to table Al Green’s resolution. We still have quite a few from the Nay side yet to join in, and they will.

5 Republicans have ‘retired’ from Congress this week. Why do you think that is?

An impeachment inquiry is not a real thing. It’s not defined anywhere. It has no legal meaning. Stating in your motion that you want something in connection with determining whether to impeach is the exact same thing as holding a vote to formally declare an impeachment inquiry before filing the motion. The courts will have the same involvement either way.

https://www.salon.com/2019/07/22/conservative-news-network-is-hiring-reporter-linked-to-russias-influence-on-2016-election_partner/

One America News Network (OANN), which was once home to Fox personality Tomi Lahren, now employs Kristian Brunovich Rouz, who joined the network and is still doing work with Russian government-run Sputnik.

According to former FBI agent Clint Watts, the hiring of Rouz fits a pattern of the integration of Russian influence of conservative American media.

“This completes the merger between Russian state-sponsored propaganda and American conservative media,” Watts told the Beast “We used to think of it as, ‘They just have the same views’ or, ‘They use the same story leads.’ But now they have the same personnel.”

According to the report, Sputnik “played a role in Russia’s 2016 election interference operation, according to an assessment by the U.S. intelligence community.”

By working both sides of the fence, the Beast notes that Rouz’s “on-air reports for OANN include a wholly fabricated 2017 segment claiming Hillary Clinton is secretly bankrolling Antifa through her political action committee. Clinton, Rouz claimed falsely, gave Antifa protesters $800,000 that ‘went toward things like bricks, hammers, bats and chains.'”

Here was the process on Nixon from wikipedia:

See if that comports with what you’re saying. I am not a lawyer, so I’m not going into the weeds with you at all.

The measure described at the top passed the House 410-4 (lol at that happening today). I’m pretty sure the Judiciary Committee can just go when given the go ahead from the Speaker without a vote of the full House (they voted to refer it to the Judiciary Committee on the Nixon one, and Articles of Impeachment have already been referred to this one that Nadler says they are investigating). They claim they’re already doing it, but refuse to say it’s official.

So you consider yourself Un-American? I don’t consider myself Un-American. I think a lot of others don’t either. 40 percent of his voters? Sure.

He’s not representative of this country at all. He’s representative of the subset of power holders who won’t let go, and who are putting their own self-interests above the country and Constitution.

They weren’t going to let Hillary pick a Justice either, the whole 4 years
