They alteady have a majotity on the SC, what mote do the want?
Does anyone know the status/schedule of the various House investigations? I guess I’m looking for a site that has a timeline of when courts are supposed to rule on stuff like whether that “absolute immunity” is the nonsense that it is. I mean McGahn said “fuck off” to his subpoena back in May, so what’s going on? IMO every day of delay is a huge victory for Trump; it’s infuriating to see his tactics of clogging everything up in the system work here like it has for him his entire life. The tax return request too, remember that “clear language” with “shall furnish” the returns when requested? Ghoul Mnuchin also said “fuck off” and now I guess that’s in the courts, languishing because…? I think the last I heard about that was basically oh shoot looks like it won’t happen until after the 2020 election.
TL, DR: I’m frustrated because our system was not prepared for a pure shitbag conman POTUS
There is no greater indictment of religion than this swollen, perpetually bloviating piece of filth, who is wholly devoid of humility or empathy, who makes a mockery of his vows, who is a laughably horrible parent, who lies as thoughtlessly and constantly as most humans breathe, maintaining “Christian” support.
These people have bullied an entire country into taking their bullshit at face value. No more. They’re racist fucking scum, end of story.
Just a humble reminder that he was credibly accused of rape (again) like what, 6 weeks ago, and that was hand waved away.
They subpoenaed Rob Porter for the 17th, but it’s unlikely he’ll show up. They’re back on September 9. I’m guessing there might be some machinations to shore up in the week before Porter, or maybe they’ll just go straight into hearings.
The news outlets aren’t really reporting on this stuff yet, and you have to basically take the word of what’s going on from the leaders that are really clued in on the Mueller report in the House (Nadler, Schiff).
The McGahn subpoena will probably be decided in the federal court by mid October at the latest. Several of the financial cases also have that timeline. They just got denied a fast track on the Richard Neal suit on tax returns from a Trump appointee (shocker).
Based on everything I’ve heard from the people, they’re expecting to be doing hearings pretty soon after they get back that will be going all the way through November (daily, weekly, I don’t know). They’ve set their whole subpoena case through McGahn hoping that the decision will favor them, and that will force every other person to testify under the threat of jail if they don’t comply. Barr has proven several times he won’t cooperate with Congress, but he has absolutely complied with nearly every single subpoena that came with a potential Contempt of Court. He’s forcing the courts to decide on the Citizenship question handling, but if the courts rule that he has to testify, he will based on what he’s been doing. This is as good a place as any to say that a bunch of Democrats have seen the unredacted Mueller report (all of the Intelligence Committee Dems and various Committee Heads).
While they are depending on the courts for a favorable decision on McGahn, Schiff said if it gets delayed through the court or if they lose, they’re still proceeding forth on their investigation. They’ll just go with Obstruction of Congress among their Articles of Impeachment. Nadler isn’t super strong on saying it will for sure happen, but if an official impeachment inquiry is opened when they get back they’ll likely win every single case currently in the court. It’s a gamble for them not to start an official impeachment inquiry, because as Cuse has noted, while I don’t agree, it looks like theater to avoid doing the real thing and a favorable court to Trump could easily rule that way. They need to be in one before the mid October deadlines get near.
Nadler says he probably expects to file Articles of Impeachment at some point in November, depending on the timing of the cases. I think it’s more likely it will be December, but they for sure want to dispatch this before election season gets in swing in February no matter what anyone else says.
Schiff said ‘justice delayed is justice denied’. He said that’s the Trump admin strategy, and they’re not going to let him get away with it. Schiff is not on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry, and he had frequently echoed Pelosi’s language until about 2 weeks ago.
I think they need to get about 15 or 20 more Democrats on the record next week, but the hurricane will probably cause some inaction. If Trump handles the hurricane badly, there will probably a ton of people going on the record if it is a direct hit anywhere by the end of the weekend.
The only thing major news outlets have been reporting on is the impeachment whip count (all sites are not in agreement and Politico has the best count right now). There’s nothing of any substance going on during the long recess, so it shouldn’t really get much coverage yet. I’m guessing that week leading up to Sept. 14 will be the Sup Bro of hype, but we’ll see.
One last thing I forgot to note is that Nadler said Articles of Impeachment have already been referred to the Judiciary Committee and they are investigating those (this is probably their court fail safe if they don’t do an official full House vote). The official process is a full vote to have the Judiciary Committee open an official inquiry. The House doesn’t open one, the Judiciary Committee does and they currently have enough votes on the Committee to pass an official impeachment inquiry starting by a simple up or down vote. Nadler says they’re already in one, but I think the courts will be skeptical unless a full vote happens in the House.
TL;DR: No one’s covering the strategy at any great length yet, probably because they’re in recess. Nadler and Schiff expect to move on Articles of Impeachment by December at the latest. I gleaned that from interviews with them. Hopefully things will start cooking on the 9th or 10th. As a final note, I think it’s probably worth it for any questions like this to end up in the Pelosi impeachment thread. It allows me to not make any long posts here. There are two threads, a whip count, and a strategy thread related to impeachment.
Yes we are just one more Nadler chicken eating stunt from really blowing this all wide open. LMAO.
Holy Shit you guys, Sgt. Pepper is alive and he’s living out his retirement years in Florida and still tripping balls.
Can someone place this guy’s accent for me. Seems distinctively something, but I can’t place it for sure. Sounds Bostonish, but not quite.
It doesn’t really sound like a Boston accent to me. Some shades of New York in it, or maybe some other New England state. The way he says weather isn’t something I remember hearing in Boston.
I think Majotity is the third boss in Blackrock Depths in WoW
