One of the great ironies here is that Ron Johnson apparently hasnât realized that his fate is inversely tied to Trumpâs. If Trump somehow wins this election, Johnson almost certainly goes down in 2022. If Biden wins, Johnson probably survives in the 2022 red wave year because Joe passed a socialist stimulus heroes act or some shit.

Itâs actually much worse than this. Thereâs nothing in conservative ideology that says people shouldnât wear face masks during a respiratory virus pandemic. Itâs the easiest fucking thing in the world. You can worry about what you do with the 5% of people who refuse to do it voluntarily, but thatâs a minor issue. What actually happens though is that BECAUSE wearing masks is such an obvious winner, Republican ideology embraces not wearing masks in opposition. Thereâs a Limit-the-Spread-of-the-Deadly-Virus Party, and since the Democrats called that, the GOP is now the Encourage-the-Spread-of-the-Deadly-Virus-Party.

Whatâs crazy is there was zero political incentive to go all-in on virus denial. Trump is an unspeakably stupid person so he just went with his lifelong instinct to lie. To the extent there was a strategy, it was âvirus bad, lets lie.â
This was objectively insane. You donât need to be an MD to get that by going all-in on virus denial you guarantee a longer and more painful timeline, and that youâll look terrible during that timeline because of your proud and open incompetence.
The media would have absolutely lapped it up if he just said âthis is serious, listen to Fauci, we will get through this together.â Even Trump could have done this and gone to the golf course. The Democrats would have gladly passed endless stimulus to ease the pain. This was an obvious strategy in February. Heâs just a total dope.

Itâs not just saddling the Dems with the problem of the pandemic itself.
The GOP is also planting the seeds for 2024. They want so many people to be forced to live their lives that they scream in outrage at any containment measures by a Biden admin EVEN IF THEY AGREE AND FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES. Resentment and outrage are powerful voting tools to get people to hate the Dems and commit early to voting GOP next time.
