the fact that those people had return flights booked, and they straight up expected they were just going to return to their lives. instead of holding the seat power and trying to take over institutions, which seems like would follow a revolution, like any other transfer of power.

Reading the wiki on the Beer Hall Putsch you see that Hitler told the crowd that the police are not their enemy, but it’s the Jews in government. A lot of this right v. left comes down to how you feel about the police and, although not everyone gets that, the police do. They are the right. The right is them. It will always be that way. Liberals who call for the “justice” system to help them are like librarians calling the fire department in Fahrenheit 451.

Germany (it is slightly overstated) learned from this mistake. The US keeps repeating it and I’m really shocked zik and micro support it. The same people faced no contributions for the Civil War that they were against civil rights and the overlap to those now supporting Trump to this level is huge.

Here’s why I think the book should be thrown not only at the violent rioters but also at the selfie-taking sheep that followed the herd.
They can’t credible claim that they were shocked , shocked to find that sedition is going on in here! One look around and they see guys with Camp Auschwitz shirts, guys with a civil war loser flags, some guys chanting “hang pence”, some guys in tactical gear with flex cuffs etc. What did they expect was going to happen?
They created the dynamic that got a police officer killed. Some entrances were violently breached, police officers were chased through the building, reporters were attacked. Without hundreds of them storming the capital this never happens.
So no, we cannot reduce the charges against them to trespassing. They were part of an organized effort that got people killed and threatened the very fabric of democracy.
