I think the main thing that it makes me feel better about is that him and chubby colonel guy weren’t ghosts who just melted back into the woodwork. I cannot imagine an organized strike force would be that easily outed.
They still easily could have done tons of damage. But it removes my darkest fears of a planned catch and kill team using the selfie dipshit mob as cover. My fear was blackwater guys and the one colonel guy was in charge. Still possible I guess but seems like it would have come out.
In retrospect, if they had huge plans for the zip tie handcuffs I think they would have probably gone to greater lengths to conceal them. The way they’re just carrying them in the open lines up with the idea they found them lying around. If they brought them in a backpack, why pull them out before they’re needed?
Of course maybe a mole in the Capitol Police deliberately left them to cause mayhem. o_O

Yeah, just for context, like literal spetsnaz Russian dudes who ride bikes around Europe poisoning people with nerve agents get identified all the time. Most recently a CNN reporter in Moscow? (could have been somewhere else) knocked on the door of one of the guys who poisoned Navalny.
I mean a blackwater capture and kill team working within the mob - which implicates all kind of other things. No way blackwater guys show up with their mommy and then in a New Yorker article. I’d expect them to know each other because they could literally trust no one else. But that hasn’t come out yet. Maybe it will, but for now I’m less worried about that.
