The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VII: We Are All Going To Die, Thanks Obama!

Thanks for looking that up, I suspected that was the case. Yeah, I think it would be a good opportunity to say, lol fuck you, then run it up the courts.

well, seems obvious repubs make sure burr steps down after sept 4th so thereā€™s no special election in 2020ā€“his term is up in 2022 anyway.

Iā€™m too lazy to make trump attack FBI then FBI go haha FBI go BURRRRRR or haha NC Senate go BURRRR graphics.

Reality is Burr seemed to take his role as intel chair somewhat seriously, which is just unacceptable in todayā€™s republican party.

I know this goes without saying, but Trump definitely discussed the investigation with The Justice Department, i.e. Bill Barr. Like 48 countries probably have tape since he calls everyone on his out of the fucking box iphone.

Much like rape, corona virus is just one of those things you have to learn to lay back and enjoy.

That is way way way worse.

Youā€™re watching that last 5-10 years before the empire collapses. I know you know this, Iā€™m just pointing out the context of the absurdity youā€™re witnessing.

Iā€™m not being even a little hyperbolic. The decadence, inequality, and stupidity generally all spike right before the end. This isnā€™t the first time any of this has happened. Itā€™s also 100% normal for the people of the empire thatā€™s about to fall to feel totally safe in the face of tons of evidence to the contrary. Remember by this point in the life cycle the empire has been a constant in peopleā€™s lives since peopleā€™s great-great-great grandparents time, and people canā€™t really conceive of it justā€¦ not being there.

Look at the end of the Spanish Empire, the Dutch Empire, The English Empireā€¦ and those are just the three most recent I can think of. You go look at the end of literally any empire and the complacency is so big you can see it from space.

Neither am I, Johnny.

If I was rich, thereā€™s no better place to live than America. If youā€™re not in the top 10%, itā€™s not a great place to be. While every country has its problems, the problems in America are absurd compared to the rest of the world. The things that are treated as scandals here in the Czech Republic these days would barely make the news in America.

The extreme individualism, nationalism and victim blaming in America are huge social issues that underlie pretty much every problem that exists there. Not changing those means not changing anything.

Trump forces everybody to use ā€œTrumpisthebestestpresidentā€, so itā€™s likely true they had the same password

I never met the guy! Here is why he sucks!

A masterclass in contradiction

Iā€™m not even sure if this is true. Sure, your taxes are low, but America has to be #1 globally by a wide, wide margin in absolutely miserable rich people per capita.

I fucking knew it, I tried to find out when it passed last night and couldnā€™t find it. Good find. These assholes just steal seats like itā€™s their job (I mean, it is). Itā€™s all just a raw power grab, and it ties into what Iā€™ve been saying in the COVID thread. This country is about raw, pure capitalism. Get what you can, zero sum game, nobody is going to be looking out for you but you. Thatā€™s America in 2020.

Republicans get it cause they made those rules. Democrats are still trying to play by the old rules because theyā€™re stupid/complicit.

If people in Europe didnā€™t complain, theyā€™d never talk to anybody.

Yah, I was kinda astonished living in France. They have amazing, epic cities and delicious food, yet many seem miserable. Itā€™s like complaining is a past-time for the French and for some reason itā€™s one of the most unhappy countries in the EU.
