This was released Tuesday. It predicted that deaths would drop by half from then to today.

That red/pink curve is not a cubic polynomial. The red curve must be their cubic fit but the pink curve is something else that was drawn in to fit with the red one. Meaning that their actual prediction was sharpied in.
