The one ray of light I take from the Lincoln Project, besides it passing off Trump, is it gives an out to hyper partisan republicans as creating a party movement that eschews Trump. I don’t know if that holds any real value come November, but I can hope, and every little bit might count.

Yeah we’re like at the halfway point in terms of total deaths and it might get worse if states start easing restrictions as quickly as they seem to be willing to, but the White House is going to declare victory and start working on more tax cuts for the wealthy. And not a damn thing is going to change for Republican voters unless someone they know personally dies from this negligence, and even then most will probably blame China or AOC or some nonsense.

I know a guy who called the Obama administration’s 17,000 people who died from H1N1 a “catastrophe” so I can only imagine what he would have said to 4x as many people dying in so much less time.
