Wait, Wat? Assuming your Dad was in sixties or something when he converted, how did this go? Here’s what I’m imagining and it makes no sense.

It is amazing how the lack of critical thought and independent thinking demonstrates itself through the same population over and over.
You say about 20% as many people on the flu’s worst day compared to what Is happening right now.
We also don’t talk about how many people choke on gourds.

He’s either stupid or low info. Low info can inflict even smart people. Many just don’t follow the news very closely.
Low info is not irredeemable. Now, if you give him the info and he doesn’t get it, then we’ve got to conclude stupid. Even if he has a good IT job.

I have basically no details because at the time I refused to talk to him at all and hated him with my entire being. I only recently started talking to him because my sick mother asked it of me.
But I do know the process took a really long time and was difficult. He had to learn a lot of the language and culture. And I’m sure he gave them other reasons lol.
I do know he loved the Kibbutz aspect of their culture. Maybe I should rib him today about how thats just socialism.
These other reasons may hold the secret to flipping him for real. Or not.

Yeah I’ll dig into it. The thing is my dad is a legit mess mentally. He did meth for like 30 years, had 3 heart attacks, and is on well over 100 pills a day. His brain is Trump level mush so I mostly just try to be civil and not have long deep conversations with him.
But I’ll give it a try.

My personal feelings would be not to push it too much. It is what it is, you have only re engaged a short time ago, and it sounds like he won’t be around for ever.

I don’t. I just keep it civil and have genuine discussions with him from just trying to understand, not to battle.
Anyways I asked him to expand on why he converted and he said when he was younger he was raised christian and all he saw was people preaching one thing and doing another and not living by what they preached. When he went to Israel he was the opposite, people living by what they preached. So when his life fell apart due to drugs ( both my parents ) and needed the comfort of religion he decided Judaism is what he wanted.
Which to me makes it even more surprising that he fell for the right wing propaganda since he already saw that the whole right wing Christianity thing was bullshit.
I see a man who does struggle with his beliefs, but he genuinely believes what fox spews. I think his massive mental decline has strongly aided in his fall into right wing idiocy.

I think many people become vulnerable to suggestion as the age or suffer mental decline due to other issues.
My Dad bought a bunch of Kevin Trudeau hawked shit when he hit 75. Super sharp guy. Just cannot differentiate that email chains aren’t a reliable source of info. At least he gets Trump is an idiot but he was all the Clintons are worse crooks in 2016. Only time as an adult I had a full on argument with him.

Where will I be November 3, 2020? Probably cowering in my house or pushing up daisies. My mail in vote for Biden would have been long-delivered by then. Trump wants to run against Hillary again obviously.
