The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VII: We Are All Going To Die, Thanks Obama!

They’ll still vote Trump because they can’t bring themselves to vote Democrat.

My mother’s mental gymnastics have been amazing. She doesn’t defend Trump but also doesn’t criticize him. Instead she criticizes the state governments for fucking up.

Trust me, these people aren’t going anywhere. Trump’s odds of winning diminish because this virus is more likely to kill his voters than Biden’s, not because he’s doing a shitty job.

Because they’re the only ones actively testing for coronavirus. The others are just letting it spread and not doing anything about it because they don’t want to find the damage already done

Yesterday there was 35,000 infections reported worldwide per worldinfo

If over the course of a year half the world population minus China gets the virus that would be 3 billion infections.

If only 10% of worldwide infections get reported that would be 3 hundred million.

That would be an average of 821,917 daily reported cases.

I’m starting to see some cracks in the Trumpkins’ solidarity. One Trumpkin I know says Trump has deep respect for Fauci and has never questioned his science or tried to overrule him. Another says its time for Trump to dump Fauci and get back to life as normal.

They are able to believe both of these things simultaneously and 73 other mutually contradictory things.

Absolutely right.

We have to remember that his voters are selfish fucks who are mostly unaffected by anything that happens to this country to the point where they fabricate things to get angry about like Obama ordering a burger with dijon mustard and saluting with a latte. They have no respect for intelligence, education, science, the pursuit of knowledge and anything related to those things. They have no moral or ethical consistency of any kind and respond to any attempt to probe that by calling you names or accusing you of some crazy shit just to get you angry.

They don’t care about foreign policy or immigration or anything else like that on a practical level. They care about how it makes them feel. They’re basically the Stephen Colbert character but serious instead of funny.

Maybe Mitch McConnell will finally ok that infrastructure upgrade that we’ve needed for the past decade+

Infrastructure Month doesn’t have quite the same ring to it tho.

Don’t forget Trump and his Republican cronies always promise the religious right that they will ban abortion. So they string 'em along and they string 'em along. And do they ever do anything meaningful to ban abortion? No. Because they don’t really want to ban abortion. They just want to say they want to ban abortion. Because an actual ban would be politically suicidal. So they string 'em along with promises. And they fall for it. They fall for it every single time.

Dems have found a measure that Rs buried in the stimulus that would restrict small business money from going to a range of health care providers that take Medicaid.

This includes providers for the disabled and even rape crisis centers.

LOL this whole answer is every competent person left in the administration. At least he’s saying the quiet part about Trump out loud. Not on camera, unfortunately.

A: The way it happened is that after he made that statement [suggesting China could have revealed the discovery of a new coronavirus three to four months earlier], I told the appropriate people, it doesn’t comport, because two or three months earlier would have been September. The next time they sit down with him and talk about what he’s going to say, they will say, by the way, Mr. President, be careful about this and don’t say that. But I can’t jump in front of the microphone and push him down. OK, he said it. Let’s try and get it corrected for the next time.

This idea that people can go back to work in 15 days and the economy can be saved is absurd.

You know how that COULD HAVE WORKED? If we were world class in testing and processing millions of tests a week we could be intelligently determining where hot and cold spots are and activate accordingly. Also we could proactively respond to any new spread. That was the way we would have actually protected the economy. Sending people back to work two weeks before we hit our peak is unbelievable lol and negligent. Lots more people will get Sick. Lots more people will die AND the economy will crumble without us having any control or guidance over it.

Sending people back to work after 15 days is going to assure the economic and virus crisis end up much worse.

How about we actually get useful tests in the tens of millions and test people and get the economy going with that.
