He genuinely cares about soldiers. Many of his best speeches are about The Troops.
I think it’s a mistake to say taking care of soldiers is the governments only “sacred” responsibility. He’ll get a million “but but but isn’t Cause XYZ also sacred!” nits jumping all over him. NYT articles with titles like “Biden Says Civil Rights and Health Care Not Sacred”.
